Fashions and what YOU would want to wear ?

I was reading old threads all over the place, and there was one on fashions of the future in general. Everyone seems to love and accept the fashions in Firefly. ( yep, all the mish mash works ). I have come up with a reason why. We have many re-enactment groups and the SCA etc. Places that people can " dress up". Ren fests grow every year, conventions see more and more people in costumes. Most of us seem to be drawn to a style, for some it is the old western long coat duster, for some the 1900 tuxedo or maybe the precursor to the tuxedo ( the one with the long tails ) Ladies may get drawn to the fluff, the fru fru, and some to the slink of different times. I think something happened to each of us to make that link in our brain as what we would prefer to wear that is not jeans and fashion of today. I see more and more people yeilding to that urge and finding ways to wear it.. ( OK for me it is the precursor to the tuxedo with the long tails and I plan to wear one for formal night on next cruise ).

Hey I got here ! THE POINT

Firefly mixed periods works because it is just all of us letting go and wearing what we like from any period and being accepted. Does not matter what that like is based on, preference or heritage.

Myself.. I am hoping Balls for Firefly continue to grow and have a formal night with music so all can get dressed up

Billowy black leather duster (Spike's outfit).

'Cause it's the closest I can get to wearing a cape/cloak without getting stared at (too much --billowy coats are kinda rare around Canada, everybody goes for denim or blazers).
