Actually I'm not really sure I want it confirmed but I want it denied if possible! Went onto the browncoats forum to look for Joss's X-Men 3 post and searched for any posts by the user 'Joss-Whedon'

Just before clicking on it, I accidently read:

"Oh my God! I can't believe Book is Mal's father!"

Now to me, that seems somehow impossible, because y'know race, and I dunno, seems a bit too Star Wars, but there's a lot of doubt in my spoiler avoiding mind :(

So erm....*gulp*...a denial would be nice

Somebody's pulling your leg - or trying to start something. Even if it is possible, or has been batted around by the powers that be, it wasn't discussed in the movie. In fact, it wasn't even remotely approached in the movie.

I'm with you though. Genetically speaking, a fella who looks like Mal couldn't have a sire who looks like Book. Book's skin pigment, eye color and general features would be dominate in any offspring he had. Although Mal's eyes can appear dark enough to be brown, they're actually blue-gray (I asked Nathan Fillion once, and that's what he told me), not to mention that he just doesn't carry any Afro-American features
