I'm sitting in class and the prof. is going on about somebody's pictures in a critique. The next thing I know, he says "It's like having a conversation and somebody suddenly starts spouting Chinese"

I burst out laughing because all I could think about was firefly. Has anyone else had something random like this happen to them?

Wash: Yeah, but psychic? That sounds like science fiction.
Zoe: You live on a spaceship, dear.

Yeah, and then you look at your Prof., and think: "You think that was weird? ... *I* even knew what they were saying!" :)

We are reading Macbeth in English and we got to the part where he is seeing Banquo's ghost and freaking out about it...(he's the only one that can see it).

My teacher would stop and translate it into English (not Shakespeare) for us and she said something like "he's a little crazy and needs to sleep." I looked at my friend (a fellow Browncoat) and we started laughing.

The whole class gave us weird looks, but that's normal...so...that's one of my many Firefly moments.

I wanna meet some AZ Firefly fans!

I kinda had a reverse Firefly moment...

I noticed while watching Serenity for the 5th time that Capt. Reynolds and I share an identically placed and lengthened scar on our upper left pectoral. Probably received them under similar circumstances, too.

Chrismoorhead,
My dad was an airborne ranger. Has a few scars from it too.

Isn't Mal's pectoral scar meant to be a relic of The Train Job? He has a couple more in the movie that are in the right place to be from events that happened in the series...

The guy who showed me Firefly for the first time (after I'd seen the BDM) shares a birthday with Alan Tudyk. That's my only Firefly moment so far. Seeing as I saw the series for the first time a month ago, that's not bad going.

Next time you'll have to be ready with some Mandarin for an appropriate reply.

I was pretty excited to see Mal and I share the same birthday (you see it in the movie when the Operative is looking at Mal's record). So far the only moment I got. But neat!

Honestly, I don't know where he got that scar from. I just finally got enough money to order the DVD box set, which will also be my first oppertunity to watch the series in it's entirity.

Someone else posted a picture of the Capt'n in another thread, and as it turns out, it's actually on his right pectoral, while mine is located on the left. Made me sad.

I was in my history class the other day, and the prof was talking about some lady in France in the 1700s that was a companion to an elderly widow. She then asked the class what we thought her duties might have been. I was kind of chuckling to myself when she picked on a guy sitting behind me who obviously hadn't been paying attention. He said "uh, was she like, a... prostitute?" my chuckling was no longer to myself...

Well, it looks right in the mirror, anyhow.

Haha! That's true, all I have to do is take pictures in the mirror and no one will be the wiser. I'll never be as pretty as him, though.

The big scar on the right pec is from a nasty curved knife wielded by a tattoo-faced character named Crowe who worked for Adelai Niska before Mal kicked him (Crowe) through a running engine.

It's okay, Chris. You seem to have more scars (so far) than Mal, if that was your torso we saw posted a while back.

I was at this bar and grill place with an over abundance of fau-tiffany light fixtures, and started thinking how much Nishka would dig the place.
Also, I had to read The Tempest a few weeks back for my comparative lit class ans had to resists the urge to stare off into space and whisper "miranda" everytime we talked about Prospero's daughter, lol. I seem to be having more and more ff moments each day :-)

Well - I've converted three of my teachers to Firefly by quoting to myself - or writing quotes in my book.

But one particularly funny Firefly moment - (to everyone around me - not me) - was that we were watching a clip from "A Knight's Tale" in English (while studying Chaucer - there was relevance) and Alan Tudyk came on screen. I - despite having seen AKT many many times - shouted out - "Wash is alive!!!!" Everyone turned to look at me - and there was a lot of staring. It was only then I realised I'd said it aloud - and no one else has any idea what I'm on about.

I converted three people that day though. Go me!

19 conversions and counting!!!

Indeed it was, if you're ever bored and want to play a fun game, try guessing which ones were caused by steel, and which ones were caused by lead.

Now that would be a fine game... sitting around with Chris and Mal, sharing a drink, talking about scars... yea.. I could do that.

I would be so in awe of both of you for being so brave.

Thanks, Chrismoorhead, who shares bravery with our beloved capt. and also a scar ( in the mirror!)

that's hilarious, I love it

Also, you have a very impressive conversion score! Keep it up! I'll have to start counting mine, I think a pitiful 5 so far, with several in the works and some "grandchildren" converts from those I've converted.

Chicks dig scars.

Chicks do not dig crooked/missing teeth, severely uneven hairlines, or culliflower ear.

I suppose the major attraction to our shiny cap'n (rhyme?) would have something to do with the fact he's been fortunate enough to never take it in the face. Cept in that final fight scene at the end of Serenity... anyone remember what his eye looked like after the fight? That was so bad ass.

I dunno, man. If the story behind those crooked/missing teeth, severely uneven hairlines, and cauliflower ear is interesting enough....

Now, I can't speak for the rest of my gender because I'm a bit of an oddball there, but I love a good story of disfigurement. FASCINATING, man. FASCINATING.

Not my own moment, but my sister's:

"I was on the bus today when I started staring off into space. Next thing I know, I think of River and the word 'miranda' slips from my tongue..."

Yes, I can imagine this. *shakes head and grins*

My sister's family are all browncoats. Since he was a baby, the nickname for the 13 year old boy has been "monkey butt", so, while watching "Firefly", his 8 year old sister picked up the phrase "HOE-tze duh PEE-goo" ("monkey butt" in Mandarin) and now shouts it at him during his wrestling meets.
