Hi all. I just registered here. I watched all the aired episodes when they came on a year ago, and it took me about ten minutes of watching the first time to realize this show is something special Of course, Fox, in their infinite wisdom , cancelled the show after airing only a few episodes. Mind you this is the same network that aired "Married... With Children" for ten gorram years... Between cancelling this show and "Fastlane", I've come to the conclusion that the whole network is run by evil, stupid, rabid chimps.

Anyway, I only came across this site when I was Google-searching the show after buying the DVD set . I thought my wife and I were the only ones to have ever watched this show since everyone I know says they never heard of "Firefly". It kinda makes sense that they wouldn't when you figured how badly Fox promoted and aired this program.

It's nice to see that there are plenty of fans out there. Later all...

As soon as I saw Mal kick crow into Serenity's engine, I was hooked myself.

I liked that show! Mind you I was 14 at the time.

I think that all the other evil, stupid, rabid chimps out there would be insulted by this statement

I know what you mean, the only people I know where I live that watched the show are the people I convinced to watch it. (It actually wasn't very hard, once they saw their first episode they were hooked.)

Nice too see you found your way here, I think you'll find lots of things to look at and read here to satisfy that Firefly jones. I found this website recently as well, and I can't seem to go a day without checking in to see whats new. Haken (the webmaster) did a great job of creating a venue for all of us who can't let the series die. Anyways welcome once agian.

Since I'm a newbie too, I'd like to tell you about how I became a Browncoat.
I read about the series on the internet, and after reading a review of the DVD box, I tried to get ths box, because I was interesed in the series (love the SciFi genre, love westerns, love Joss Whedons work, so it had to be good!).
When I finally got my hands on the box, I expected to see a good show, but what I got was a gorram GREAT one. It blew me away, some of the best things I've ever seen on TV, and it's a shame that it was cancelled so early.
I love the setting, the charakters, the great stories, everything. Never before I was that fascinated with a tv series. I'm glad that there is a fandom here and I've found other people who love Firefly.
Shiny!

First off, thanks for the welcome.

Second, I'd like to apologize to any evil, stupid, rabid chimps that felt insulted by my unfavorable comparison to Fox executives

Welcome!
I also thought I was the only one who noticed the show and that it was uberfantastic until I came searching on the net for other fans.
Turns out there are a surprising number of us.

Hey, how spooky

Exactly the same thing happened to me! The show was aired in the UK and again it only took me a coupla minutes to realise how cool it was.
I was devastated when I learned gorram Fox had cancelled it.
I searched the net for any info and came up with this site.
I'm slowly converting friends and colleagues - they WILL watch the show even if I have to go round their houses and make them.
Kinda wish I lived in the US so I could attend the Browncoat ball. It'd be great to meet some fellow Browncoats.
There are a few UK Browncoats so's maybe we can arrange a UK Browncoat ball.
My son is busy converting his friends as well-that brings in all the lil' Browncoats. Shiny!

Hey, I'm starting to do the same
I've shown the pilot and two of my favourite episodes to my friend, and she loves it, too!

I've read about the Browncoat Ball in Chicago this fall, but it seems too far away. If there would be a Shinding in europe, e.g. London, I'm sure I would attend

You just have to hear them speak, and that intricate ballet of words justs entrances you.

Of course the rest is great, too. I never did understand why it cost so much to make. I realize the costumes were many and varied, and the computer effects were inovative, but you'd think you could do a show like this cheaper.
