No more running. I aim to misbehave.

Kate helps save Castle and a bank full of hostages. At the end, they spend a very long pause gazing at each other adoringly despite everyone else in the room. Beckett joins Castle and his family for dinner. Is this the beginning of something big or just another false start?
I'm not sure how to call it at this point. What does everyone else think?

Sounds interesting Bup,

Not sure if you’re asking for a title, or the avenue the relationship should follow? I don’t read a lot of Castle fic, but I have read some, & writen some as well.

As for a title ( if that’s what you seek) I’ll just throw out there “ Castle Keep”….as for where the relationship is headed? I’d say tease, tease, tease….please! I’d say keep it as a false start, jmo. I really enjoy when a story/relationship develops over the long haul. I mean, you can explore all of those new things that make people fall more in love with each other every day, but also thrown in those annoying habits that drive folk crazy about each other….lots of fun.

Hope in some way this helped, BPZ

I was asking where does it look like it's going? To me it looks like a beginning. But there are going to be some bumps along the road. I was curious what other viewers thought.

CYBERSNARK

Well, we've already had the beginning of this arc; in the season premiere, when she revealed to Worf that she remembers everything involving the shooting (including Castle's declaration of love).

I think what we're moving toward is her being able to acknowledge that she feels the same way. Of course, dramatically, what they both need is for Castle to say it again, at a time when they're not in immediate peril ('cause we and they both know that people who think they're about to die can say some untrue things).

(playfully)Buppy, Buppy, Buppy.....

Have you figured out what the more important questions are? And better yet, can you answer them??

Like who were the body parts ACTUALLY of, and who was the cop at the end that had his face all dark??

Dun-dun-DAAAAAHH......

The answer to yer other question? Mr Castle... with Ms. Beckett...in the foyer...on the billards table. And then the reavers will come and they will die tragically....

BYTEMITE

Haven't been watching since season two, though I've caught a few episodes this season now, including this one.

I'm sure that they're not going to start the next episode with Kate still over at the Castles.

As for the episode itself, the end of it was just a little too like a role-reversed bathtub explosion scene. But it was a little interesting to jump back in and see how the characters have grown.

STORYMARK

Given that every show ever that has relied on this "will they/wont they" romance dynamic has gone off the rails as soon as the leads hook up - ya better hope they don't.

"Goram it kid, let's frak this thing and go home! Engage!"

Unfortunately, I missed that part. I was hoping it wasn't anything important. Clearly it is. I wonder what I will be watching tonight? Care to guess?

We may never know whose parts those were. I can't tell who the cop in the dark was either. The voice was familiar.

Well, they're MERCS...so there's that. I think mercs would know where a fresh supply of dead would be. They were wearin' scrubs so they coulda been somebody's... and I'm bettin' that in scrubs they could probably FIND some dead peeps. Either way, I doubt that ALL the parts were merc(if any)...That being said, I'm sure the bastard was smart enough to have a contingency plan in case of police intervention at the end....

You are right. I was so busy watching Beckett and Castle together it didn't occur to me to ask. I'm sure that is what the show is counting on. No one questioning it.

They got rid of the good kid shows. Too violent. Instead there are boogers and characters puking on each other. Because we know that's so much better.
I finger the jerks with the puking cartoon characters.
Give me Classic Bugs Bunny or give me death.

I'm pretty sure the body parts were really from the bank robbers because the abusive husband who planned the robbery double-crossed them to cover the evidence of what he was actually having stolen.
There is no reason for "CASTLE" to go all X-Files with this story.
It is not a story-arc like the conspiracy behind Beckett's mother's murder.

Far as the Castle-Beckett relationship, yes, I believe it is developing.
If it is handled in a logical, mature way,
there is no reason for the series to crash-and-burn from the "Moonlighting Curse".
The only "curse" is when shows stop being about what they are about,
and start being about the characters "hooking up".
As long as the writers focus on solving mysteries
and allow the Castle-Beckett relationship to logically develop as the "B-story",
I think the show will be fine.

As I noted in my letter to series creator Andrew Marlowe:
McMillan & Wife (September 17, 1971 to April 24, 1977) and Hart to Hart (1979 to 1984) built watch-able shows on characters in solid relationships. I have always viewed the Beckett/ Castle relationship as developing from like-minded pals into a serious, committed-to-each-other partnership. THAT is a story/ character arc I would like to see unfold.

A changing character dynamic is the kind of "change" a GOOD writer can use to keep a series fresh,
as opposed to the cheap trick of killing a character to stir the pot,
(which I consider to be lazy writing in most instances).
Also from my letter:
A relationship would accelerate the character development curve where by Beckett is loosening up and Castle is becoming more in touch with the fact that for most folks, life is about consequences. I see story possibilities where Castle and Beckett begin to worry about the risks they face. Should they continue to put their lives on the line? Should Beckett shoot for a desk job and Castle stay home and write? How would Beckett handle fame and fortune? Or would Castle have to reign in the glam for a more mundane family life? How would Castle’s family react? Would Alexis relish the idea of Beckett joining their family while Martha, perhaps, feels a bit threatened?
Because solving the mysteries should stay the primary focus of the show, these relationship developmental plot points would be spread out over a full season or two. Unlike “hooking up” as the once and done consummation, developing a real relationship for the Castle and Beckett characters is a springboard to further development.

I have high hopes that "Castle" will finish out its run with solid character development while never losing focus
on the bones of what makes it what it is.

Mike
