Yeah but that's the audience score not the critic's score. And it was an audience who had zero opportunity to have actually seen the movie. So, it had nothing to do with the actual movie.

Would it be fair to say that Black Panther was the greatest comic book super hero movie ever made? Of course, I'll leave that for you to decide for yourself, but if we're to go only by critics reviews, that would look to be the case by a pretty wide margin. The only other one I could find that was in the 80's at all was Spider-Man 2. Anyhow... Captain Marvel right now is rated just under Age of Ultron, even with all of the hype and claims that it's a movie about Feminism, and it's so important for women to see that there have been several successful kickstarter campaigns to raise money to buy tickets for underprivileged girls in bad communities to be treated to this wonderful Girl Power blockbuster that will change the world. But it scores lower than Age of Ultron... Sandwitched in between AoU and Ant Man with a perfect "D" score of 65. Age of Ultron was the last straw for me. I've tuned out of comic book movies ever since then. Mindless entertainment for people who are looking for mindless entertainment. EDITED TO ADD: I added Wonder Woman's metacritic score. A 76, the same as Guardians of the Galaxy. I have not seen a DC movie since the 2nd Christian Bale Batman, so I couldn't compare the two, but even at a 76, Guardians was probably my favorite comic book movie out of the 8 or so that I've seen that weren't Keaton/Bale Batman flicks which were head and shoulders above any other comic property, IMO. (Of which Keaton's first only rated 69 and Bale's first only rated 70) Do Right, Be Right. :)

I didn't know this was supposed to be a comedy. Sure, they had enough sense to make it Air Farce, which didn't have quite so many female Pilot disasters, but c'mon - Elite Fighters? Yeah. We're old dudes now. The 90's is that same mythical time to the kids growing up today that the 60's and 70's were to me. In my experience it's not until you reach your early to mid thirties that you realize that was really just yesterday. History doesn't mean anything to people with money and an agenda. I'm sure a lot of kids are going to leave Captain Marvel believing there were elite fighter squads made up of nothing but women in the ancient days of late last century. Do Right, Be Right. :)

Quote:I'll make it very simple and clear: Captain Marvel is really worth a watch. It's just entertaining and visually impressive, exactly what it was meant to be. Just keep this in mind that it's an origin story so don't go looking for an overstuffed complex story. It's just a fun action movie that introduces us to a new superhero Captain Marvel, played brilliantly by Brie Larson. I became an instant fan watching her in this action heroine avatar, something she manages to pull off with ease. Watch her in the action sequences and there's no way you can't be impressed. Viewers were literally cheering for some of the most heroic moments in the film. Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury is as awesome as always, it's just that his character feels even better and refined than what we've seen. Jude Law is also quite good, and so are Ben Mendelsohn and Lashana Lynch. But the one character that ultimately steals the show is Goose, the cat. Some of the sequences involving her are so hilarious that it was really difficult to stop laughing. Visual effects are excellent, and the IMAX 3D viewing just elevated them. And since it's most importantly an action movie, every single action sequence it delivers is impressive, especially the train sequence. I would call it one of the major highlights of the movie. Cinematography in certain portions is really impressive. Humor, like any other MCU movie, is top notch and really manages to make you laugh. Captain Marvel has a simple-looking origin story presented and executed in a terrific manner. The directors have done a great job with the characterization of Captain Marvel, and that is what makes everything in the film seem so good. The pace is brisk, gore is minimal to no, and there's nothing unsuitable for kids. I'd definitely recommend watching Captain Marvel to anyone who likes superheroes or is simply a fan of action movies. You'll love it if you want to be entertained. It also does answer some much-asked questions, and that should be the reason enough for you to stay instead of just walking away. Can't wait to watch Avengers: Endgame now!

Quote:How do you average survey results? In order to correctly calculate the average overall response to each question, we need to: Multiply the number of individuals selecting each rating by the corresponding rating value (1 – 5) Add the results of those calculations together. Divide that result by the total number of responses to the question.

Quote:Also, for every female filling a Fighter Pilot Seat, another male is not filling that Seat. If you were staffing your Combat Unit for War, would you logically select the lesser capable individuals, so that your Unit and all its assets will lose? Instead of selecting all of the most capable, the most competent combatants available? So, is "Elite Female Fighter Pilots" a joke? Let along an entire Squadron of them?

Quote:Originally posted by Zeek: Saw it last night and the movie is perfectly fine. Nothing special. Only one part is a bit too on the nose about girl power to me, but I won't spoil it. The MCU is really getting good with their de-aging technology. Samuel L Jackson looks good in the movie. Only a few parts where the effect gets a little wonky. Brie Larson is a bit off with her acting. I don't know what it is exactly. Comedic timing or tone or something. Mostly she does fine, but some of it's a little too goofy IMO. Anyone who says the story is too predictable is lying. There's definitely some twists in there that no one would predict ahead of time. Overall, it's a super hero origin movie. So, yeah there are familiar beats. That's how it works, but it's still an enjoyable movie.
