Maybe they'll show Maverick in 2022.

I just saw trailer for The 355. Not sure if it is woke, might be. That's coming in January.

Are they making Edge of Tomorrow 2 yet?

Otherwise, nope.

I don't know, a lot of cinemas seem to have closed doors where I travel but some might be opening again perhaps they are getting some political government bailouts or something. I might watch the Doctor Strange Multiverse Madness thing, it looks wacky enough from what I hear and hopefully stands alone as its own film without having to watch the entire Marvel Universe to understand it. Maybe two movies about shipping delivery of stuff there is 'Special Cargo' seems like a South Korea action comedy thriller thing and a drama 'Riders' maybe will be ok an Argentina movie about people from Venezula working as delivery bike people.

My old man and brother just saw that last night. He pretty much spoiled all the interesting stuff for me I think but it did sound pretty cool. He really seemed to enjoy it.

Jeez...

It will clear $600 Million domestic easily this weekend and already has a worldwide gross of $1.2 Billion.

So much for Covid being an excuse for studios putting out flop after flop after flop, huh?

Same for catering to China. Looks like you don't need China if you make a good movie.

LOL...

25 year old Tom Holland is whining that his body is shutting down.

Idiot "news" outlets run headlines making it sound like it was serious.

Nothing is wrong with him. First world problems. Poor rich boy.

Just wait, kid. You have no idea what is waiting for you once you hit your 40's. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't have any real idea what's waiting for him once I hit my 50's or 60's or later.

I mean... unless you got the shot and your body really is shutting down. That sucks then. Better luck next life.

OK. I had thought the thread title was adequate before.

Obviously not.

So I have added "New" to the title.

I didn't really care if anybody is watching Braveheart or Titanic this year.

My brother showed me the Morbius trailer while he was in for Christmas and he didn't even know it was a Marvel character. He just likes vampire stuff.

I think that's cool how SONY plays things when it comes to the Marvel properties they've got control over compared to Disney. Yanno... They don't beat you over the head with everything.

I had just watched Spider-Man: Homecoming with him and my old man a few days earlier and asked him if he saw the quick shot of Michael Keaton in the trailer. He didn't even catch that bit, so I had to go back and show him that Vulture would be showing up in Morbius in some capacity.

It looks interesting enough, and now that I've seen both Venom movies and my first Spider-Man movie since the 2nd one with Toby McGuire, I'm starting to feel a little invested in SONY Marvel.

I was hoping that maybe Blade could come into the mix at some time since Black Don't Crack, but it looks like New Line Cinema made the Blade Trilogy and the rights to Blade reverted back to Marvel Studios back in 2012 so that falls under the Disney MCU banner.

HEY DISNEY!!!!!!!!

Why not make another Blade movie instead of all the M-She-U shit you're shoveling that nobody wants to see?

Are we at a point that we don't worry about No Way Home Spoilers yet?

Just asking, because that movie was F'king awesome and without any close seconds, even including Joker, Deadpool, OG Batman and Superman is by far my favorite Comic book flick of all time. I'm thrilled that I somehow managed to still be able to see it in that little theater I love going to and didn't see it for my first time on my TV.

Well done, Sony.

I appreciate you really sticking the landing and not screwing it all up.

I've seen more than one ad for Northman, and it looks good. Opens Friday.

I just looked and see it stars Anya Taylor Joy.

With Nicole Kidman and Willem Dafoe, might be the most geniuses in a film since Aquaman.

I'm NEVER going into a superhero movie looking for a plot or story line. With rare exception they're all the same boring, stupid formula. Hollywood isn't looking to break any new ground when they churn these things out because of how huge the budgets are. Play it safe. Give the masses the same crap over and over and over again and hope that this year isn't the year that they finally say enough is enough.

Quote:

Sure. That's exactly what it was. Incidentally, some of my favorite episodes of the 90's version of The Outer Limits were the ones that tied a bunch of seemingly unrelated episodes together too. Especially the one where the guy was trying to talk to the President of the US about all of the alien invasions that had been happening and it turned out some of the people on the committee that were going to decide if the President should be informed and voted it down were themselves some of the aliens that he was talking about. I really loved how one of them said to the others something along the lines of "we don't have to worry about these ones and those ones, but yeah... that one is going to be a problem we have to take care of".

Quote:

and I was honest to God waiting for one of the spideys to look at the others and say the immortal chick flick line "you complete me"....

They kind of did do that...

There was a Wayne's World reference in there I think went over most people's heads. When Garfield says to McGuire and Holland "I love you guys" and McGuire just says "Thank you".

Quote:

this movie will never make my rewatch list... in fact it left such a lousy taste in my mouth that I have to go back and watch the first Holland , which they really got so very right...just to get my head back into what spider man could be.

Except for Deadpool (and possibly Joker if I'm ever in the mood to put myself through that one again)... and maybe Mystery Men after all of these years have gone by, I don't think I'll ever watch a Super Hero movie more than once, and most of them I never intend to watch in the first place. I pretty much hate the genre as much as I do Horror flicks, with only a few rare ones that I enjoy.

But I really loved how they ended this Spiderman. They had a Magician at their disposal. They could have Deus Ex Machina'd the whole thing and brought Aunt May back to life, and restored everyone's memory and gave it a nice happy Hollywood ending and I would have vomited in my throat.

To me, the best thing about this movie wasn't the Nostaligia (which they did do extremely well, IMO). But it was the potential for future Spiderman movies with Holland, assuming they make them. We get to see what we didn't get to see at the end of the TV show Chuck. We get to see Peter Parker make MJ fall in love with him all over again. (I didn't feel it was really earned that first time, TBH).

And Peter just moving into that dingy apartment building, all on his own with nothing but his self-tailored Spiderman suit jumping out the window to just go and fight crime without his Tony Stark machinery at his disposal was just awesome for me to see.

Holland's Peter Parker is a hero. A TRUE hero. And to me that wasn't really clear until the 3rd act events of No Way Home. So many stories coming out of Hollywood these days feel so unearned. People given super powers just because, and never really earning them. Even Holland's Spiderman wrestled a bit with this early on, but it wasn't paid off until he sacrificed everything at the end for the people he cared about. And instead of wallowing in his own self-pity and turning to drugs and booze or something that a lot of mere mortals would do in that situation, he got right back on the horse and left the audience with the sense that he'll be okay. He's going to figure it out.

I can only hope that if they do make another Spiderman with Holland that they don't find some magic McGuffin that turns everything back the way it was before No Way Home and they take a risk and give us a real story. There's limitless potential for a great 4th entry if it's written right and they don't erase the 3rd act of No Way Home. Otherwise, I would refrain from making another sequel and leave it right as they ended it. The ending was perfect.

The big question about Lightyear is who is sticking it in who's butt for kids to see.

The second biggest question is has Disney tarnished their brand so badly that they will have their first Toy Story flop.

The third biggest question is will Disney learn from their mistakes when it doesn't meet expectations.

Expectations, 6ix? This is NOT Toy Story 5. Disney will be fine. The trailer for Lightyear hints that the scriptwriter saw Planet of the Apes. Buzz Lightyear travels at hyperspeed, left only 4 minutes ago, but returns 62 years, 7 months into the future. Things have changed for the worst, but it is not intelligent apes causing problems. Unlike Charlton Heston, who could not save the planet because he got beat up by gorillas, Chris Evans as Buzz Lightyear is gonna kick James Brolin's giant robot butt.

There are always expectations.

Disney hasn't met them with most of their recent flicks, especially the Marvel trash they've been putting out.

Let's see how badly they want to stop losing money. If they put any Leftist agenda shit in there you can bet that they're going to have their first Toy Story branded loser on their hands.

6ix, you don't have money, which is why Disney doesn't produce entertainment to please you. You are worthless to Disney unless you have money to buy a ticket. That is how free market capitalism has always worked.

Disney’s decision to oppose Florida’s “don’t say gay” law is all about appealing to Disney’s consumers. Republicans who most yearn to make America “great” again — aging, rural, white men — are at the bottom of the consumer totem pole and lack the financial clout to swing the free market. Conservatives just can’t handle the fact that their political ideology is toxic to people who buy tickets for Disney World and Disney movies.

Fox News agitator Laura Ingraham had previously warned that if companies like Disney didn’t “stay in their lane” — focusing on maximizing profit, but shutting up about politics — “everything will be on the table” if Republicans return to power in November, including “your copyright and trademark protection, your special status within certain states, and even your corporate structure itself.” GOP Senator Marsha Blackburn denounced Disney’s criticism as “how the woke left extremists are using corporations to push their agenda.”

Here’s the irony, though: While Disney controls municipal functions in Reedy Creek, its special tax district, it also foots the bill — for the fire department, sewer treatment, and so on. The elimination of that special status thus will save Disney $163 million annually, passing on $1 billion in debt to taxpayers in Orange and Osceola counties and forcing massive local tax hikes. So what in the name of Adam Smith’s invisible hand is going on here?

No it's not. It's pissing off the people who used to pay to see Disney.

Look at their stock prices.

Democrats and Leftists are done, buddy. Expect the new Bob to be fired from his position at Disney and a huge change in the corporate structure to occur over the next year. Disney is tired of losing money, pandering to a woke Titter mob that doesn't bring them any cash.

According to a source close to the production, Pixar's next feature film, "Lightyear" — starring Chris Evans as the putative real-life inspiration for the "Toy Story" character Buzz Lightyear — does feature a significant female character, Hawthorne (voiced by Uzo Aduba), who is in a meaningful relationship with another woman. While the fact of that relationship was never in question at the studio, a kiss between the characters had been cut from the film. Following the uproar surrounding the Pixar employees' statement and Disney CEO Bob Chapek's handling of the "Don't Say Gay" bill, however, the kiss was reinstated into the movie last week.

Good luck, Disney shareholders.

TIP OF THE DAY: As the future Ex-CEO of Disney, Bob Chapek's job not only didn't entail any "handling" of the Anti-Groomer bill in Florida, but it wasn't even in his preview or power in the first place.

You'll learn, Disney...

Eventually.

Hopefully it takes you so long that you can get your stock back to mid-80's prices and I can get rich quick by gobbling them up on the cheap before you finally turn it around.

I love it when time passes...

Lightyear didn't even place 1st in its opening weekend. I guess Disney didn't make it for anybody.

Darn those toxic white males who didn't go to see it!!!!

I guess the market that Disney panders to just torrented it like you did, you pirate.

Lightyear takes 2nd place to the Jurassic world reboot sequel trash movie that's been out for 2 weeks and almost takes third place behind Top Gun: Maverick which has been out for 7 weeks already.

Disney is sitting at over $94 per share right now, which is half of what it was worth back in September of last year.

How do you suppose running another one of its biggest properties into the ground is going to treat shareholders come next week?

I dunno. Somethin' somethin' gay this or that to show Governor DeSantis what a big white male evil meanie he was or somethin'.

Second seemed to think it was super special two months ago.

Second torrented the movie and didn't pay for it. Either that, or Second didn't bother seeing it because even woke critics are giving it a 70% on RT.

This despite sporting gobs of empty virtue-signalling theaters, while cinemas are turning away paying customers due to full seats in their buildings.

At my local cinema, I noticed this gay robot dog drivel from Walt Gayness World had 18 showings per day, while dinosaurs and Maverick were each down to 12 showings per day. Downton had 2.

I had not really planned to see Maverick again in cinema, but I decided that was the perfect thing to do when outside was 100* and muggy.

Oops.

By 5pm, all of the shows for the day were Sold Out for Maverick, up to 11pm.
One show of dinosaurs was Sold Out, and the next one had 3 seats, neckbreakers.
None of the cartoons were Sold Out, all day.
And this gay robot dog grooming flik had a long string of shows listed, none of them Sold Out the whole day.

I realized I have never seen the Box Office at this cinema list Maverick without having multiple Sold Out shows.
But this theater had to get rid of screens of Sold Out Mavericks to make way for this gay robot dog dreck.

Numerous folk at the Box Office were stuck, asking questions about when open shows were going to be. When I turned around and left, I noticed a steady stream of dozens of others going the reverse way out of the Box Office, having also been unable to find open seats in anything except this Walt Gayness World's indoctrination seminar.
This felt weird, flowing with crowds from the front Box Office instead of from the exit doors of the Cineplex. Don't recall seeing anything like it, except maybe during Star Wars weeks.

Now that I think about it, don't recall hearing a single person inquire about seating availability for gay robot dog. For all I know, those screens might be all cavernous echo Chambers.

Cinema turning away droves of customers trying to throw money at them, but they opted instead to book ghost theaters of this Walt Gayness World disaster.
Because Maverick has more Sold Out shows than it's Opening Week, I wonder if the number of screens it has will increase next week? Has the $ per screen average been going up each week for Maverick? This is the 4th week of Maverick in my town.

Don't Worry Darling looks interesting.

Chris Pine and Director Olivia Wilde. Olivia worked with Jennifer Morrison on House, who then became Chris Pine's mom in Star Trek.

Lightyear comes in 5th place for its second weekend and it wasn't even close.

Number 4 looks to be some dumb horror flick called The Black Phone that was shown in more than 1,100 less theaters than Lightyear was shown in.

Where are you at, Second?

There must be another Marvel DC comicbook thing lined up.

Gay Robot Dog Movie is what Disney titled Lightyear.

I don't blame you for never having heard of it. Nobody went to see it in the theater.

And Second still hasn't ever come back here to tell me that I was right and he was wrong. Again.

Hollywood is out of ideas, Top Gun makes money but a lot of cinema barley survives and streaming subscribe film barley break even, another bla Transformers coming, . M3GAN looks weird dark interesting, even if they release no movies I guess I can entertain myself with fantasy scifi by watching someone speed run the latest video game franchise or downloading something fom South Korea or some other place.
