Interesting, but I'm not sure yet. Wow. Krasinski really kicked his action career into gear with 13 Hours. Now he'll be Jack Ryan on TV, perhaps the best casting ever for that role. Alec and bafflack were brainless, and Harrison was a few decades older than Ryan was supposed to be. If this casting happened before bafflack, the film might still be a viable franchise. Currently bafflack working hard to wreck DC Comics.

From everything I've heard the tone of the movies in Synderverse was a lot more damaging than Bafflack ever could be.

The 3 real life heroes were not asked to appear in the film until 3 weeks before filming started. I gotta watch this one. This is the shortest film Clint ever directed, so maybe that's a challenge for him.

I haven't heard anything about this new one. Is it going to be like one of the previous movies, or another entirely different type of movie? I think that could be pretty interesting. Do Right, Be Right. :)That seems like a trick question. It is the third installment of the Cloverfield series. It takes place on a Space Station. That was Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the John Goodman one.

Cloverfield Paradox is a Netflix series with the same cast as the film Cloverfield God Particle. I think Paradox is out before the film. Not sure if is required to watch before the film.

I've intentionally been ignoring everything online that even hinted of Cloverfield since I don't want it spoiled for me. I had no idea that there was a new show for me to watch now. Now that things will be slowing down a bit at work I have some great TV (Black Mirror Season 4) and potentially great TV (Cloverfield Paradox) to watch. Thanks for the heads up. :) Do Right, Be Right. :)

Quote:Originally posted by JEWELSTAITEFAN: it seemed like the premise or synopsis of the film and TV show are similar, related, or interrelated. I won't be watching the Netflix, and did not delve into which was supposed to be first. IMDb normally labels Spoilers quite well, and provides synopsis or summary. I forgot to mention that the last time I found a crossover like this was when I was looking up Jewel again and noticed the cast of Serenity seemed to have the character names as some TV show called Firefly. So this time I got a little tingly.

So this time I got a little tingly. There was one bit of info that I didn't manage to filter about Cloverfield, but it wasn't a spoiler. I had heard that the trailer for it came out only several hours before "it" had come out in full. I had assumed they were talking about the movie when they were talking about how odd this was (in line with pretty much everything regarding the series so far, right down to the marketing). They must have meant that a trailer had come out on YouTube and a few hours later the Netflix show was up. Or at least that's what I'm assuming now. I'm going to say it's pretty safe to assume that you're supposed to watch the Netflix show first, since it's out now. But knowing the history of Cloverfield I don't think it's safe to assume anything. I can't imagine that they'd somehow ruin the movie experience by putting the show out first if you were supposed to see the movie first though. I see no benefit for them financially speaking by doing that. Well... since you're not watching it I won't spoil it for you. I'll let you know if I liked it or not though whenever I get around to it. Do Right, Be Right. :)

Quote:Originally posted by 6IXSTRINGJACK: Oh.... that's why I didn't see Paradox. It was a movie, not a TV show. Reviews are terrible for it, and the word is that it wasn't even a Cloverfield movie when it was made. They went back and did a few reshoots to tie it together and when it bombed with test audiences some genius came up with the non-marketing marketing plan by putting a single ad out during the Super Bowl and dumping it on Netflix. Netflix better be careful, or else the term "dumped on Netflix" is going to be synonymous to "Direct to Video" in the 90's. Do Right, Be Right. :)

Quote:Among other things, Abrams says the film was already shooting when he and the filmmakers figured out how to make it into a Cloverfield movie. “Originally, it was written by Oren Uziel, who wrote a draft that was its own thing, and was around for a while,” Abrams said. When his production company, Bad Robot, acquired the script, “we started to think, ‘What are ways that this might fit into the world?’ But when we started shooting the movie, it was still something we were thinking about. Because the idea for the Cloverfield series was not so much that it be this narrative throughline, but more that they be these really fun sort of thrill rides. Like, if you imagine an amusement park, that’s a Cloverfield amusement park, and every ride has a different purpose, but they all connect in some way or another.” “While we were shooting, we were making adjustments,” Abrams said. “This was a movie that went through many different iterations as it went along.” He added that the film’s Earth scenes were only built out after test viewers insisted on knowing what was happening on the planet during the story, which otherwise takes place on a space station.

I'm sure there's a million YouTube critics, but I've got a group of them I watch regularly because I personally agree with their takes on movies that I have seen. As to whether or not Paradox was originally a Cloverfield movie, I found this straight from JJ Abrams... I think I'll pass. Actually, If I wasn't in my 20's I probably wouldn't have liked the first one so much. The Goodman one was pretty great, but didn't even need that "Cloverfield" part at the end of it. The acting and setting were great as just a movie about any generic apocalypse as a background character. They could have just ended it with her leaving the bunker to a great white light like the end of Cube and it would have been a better movie. It sounds to me like what they're doing with Cloverfield now is making the "universe" as pointless as Abrams did to LOST in the end. He seems to be a really good story teller who just can't actually finish a story because of a lack of focus. The only exception to that rule that comes to mind is the ending of Fringe. I'm thinking that had less to do with Abrams and more do do with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci though. Do Right, Be Right. :)

Quote:You'll recall that at the end of 10 Cloverfield Lane, the previous entry in this sorta-franchise, an escaping Mary Elizabeth Winstead was on her way to Houston to… Well, it doesn't matter what she was on her way to Houston to do, does it? Because in the same way that Lane had only the most tenuous connection to the 2008 Cloverfield, which launched this series, the latest installment—The Cloverfield Paradox—is essentially an unrelated story, based on a vagabond script that had been bouncing around for a while before being acquired by producer J.J. Abrams, who retrofitted it into his hazily conceived Cloverfield universe.

If I remember I'll check KODI tonight and let you know if it's up there yet. They'd likely only have bootleg versions unless the official cut was already leaked, but it would tell you if it is in at least some theaters. Some of these bootleggers are artists man, and with the cameras available today the picture and audio is great. Sometimes it's cooler to watch a bootleg than the real flick because you can get all of the good things of the theater experience without actually having to sit through a miserable theater experience. "A Scanner Darlky" and "The Hunger Games" were two movies I saw that were bootlegged phenomenally well and the audience reaction in some spots were priceless. Do Right, Be Right. :)

So I have little patience with that form of theft. And I think most true Browncoats would feel alike.
