Everybody has favorite quotes from the show, but which quotes or catch phrases do you use every day?
Which ones have made it into your vocabulary?
My faves: "Shiny", "Gorramit!", and "Cashy money". I'm still trying to work in "Dong ma?" .....

I don't use "shiny" every day, but it can be
fun to say it when there are a bunch of people
around -- browncoats may very well come out of
the woodwork. :;-)

Also, "Lao Tien Ye," Jesus!

STOWEAYAY, good call with the crazy time! I'm still laughing at that. I have a serious need to start saying that now. A couple that I want to use, but haven't quite found the right situation(s) yet for are...

and

I use a fair number of quotes in real life.

"You're the boss, boss." *Salutes.* - Mal to Simon, 'JaynesTown.' I said that to a fellow co-worker once. We were organising stock that needed to be shifted.

"This is what going mad must feel like." - Simon. It's another 'JaynesTown' quote.

Tzao Gao. I use Mei mei alot too. I've said 'merciless hell' in mandarin sometimes as well.

"How come it never goes smoothe?" and "Just once I'd like things to go according to the gorram plan" are frequently used.

There's probably more.. I can't think of any more off hand.

Yeah, "shiny" and "gorram" have become an accepted part of my vocabulary. People don't even question it any more.

I also say "Ooh! Look at all the pretties!" way too much. And 'Ha ha ha! Mine is an evil laugh!" That one tends to get me some odd looks.

JOLLIE36

Hi all.

I have used the quote ""Where does that get fun?" more often than I care to admit.... especially at work, in the last 2 days!!! [I've been off work sick for a week and a bit (that's when I found and fell in love with Firefly/ Serenity) and I've been getting a lot of "flack" from my boss since returning and now I HATE my job with such a passion to the point that I'm seriously thinking about quitting and getting a new job in the same field - can't let a Nursing qualification go to waste!] I have used a phrase similar to that in the past, but this one is WAAAAY better! LOL.

Another couple I would like to use, but no one would get the reference is "Shiny" and "Look at all the pretties". I think they are great. I find I'm muttering "Shiny" to myself whenever things are going great.... not that I've had much reason to [but I've managed to set up a job interview on the 16th of May (keep your fingers crossed for me), and I've got a Nursing Agency chasing me via the phone to get me to interview also!!!!) so it will be "shiny, shiny, shiny.... if it all goes according to plan!" Then I can kick the job I currently have...... yehaw! or at least seriously slash my hours so I can hopefully avoid the boss and it will be "shiny" too! hahahaaaaaa.

OOOOPPPPS.

Sorrry.

Didn't mean to tell you all my life story... kind of slipped out. But boy.... it feels good to get it off my chest.

And how!

Another of my favourites, whenever I get an idea: 'Think now I got a notion regarding that.' Or, when I've got an engineer and brakeman who are particularly fond of busting each other's balls: 'One of you is gonna fall and die and I'm not cleanin' it up!'

Pretty much the only non-Malocution I use every day is 'No power in the 'verse can stop me' (esp. when I've done the impossible). It is my sweetie's most famous line, though, so it works well enough.

I'm still waiting for some engineer who doesn't like the way I work so I can tell him, 'You don't wanna fly with me anymore, this is your port o' harbour.'

I use "dong mah" and "hun dan" pretty frequently. My vernacular is becoming a strange pastiche of English and Japanese with German and Mandarin words thrown in for flavor. Pretty soon I'll be saying "Ai ya, nani o hanashimasu ka? Schprechen ze Eigo, ja? This is a pain in my pi gu."

I refer to myself as a mean old man, but I've been doing that long before I saw Firefly.

I DO use the term "Captainy things" or "I'm gonna go Captain."

When I play WoW and I've not had time to put some grenades together because people are rushing me to get going, I will a lot of the time be prone to saying "Gee, sure would be nice if we had some GRENADES right now!"
