I've been watching the full run of Firefly / Serenity on Netflix, every few months. Lately, I've noticed that Netflix has scrambled the order of the final four episodes of Firefly. It's only a minor annoyance to select the viewing order manually as the episodes play, but real irritation comes at being reminded of what FOX network executives did to our show the first time around. I'm here to ask that, if you are a Netflix subscriber, please log in to Netflix, go to the Firefly page, and report that the episodes are out of order. It seems like the FOX Network Curse has followed our crew all the way to planet Netflix, and they've scrambled up the episode order. I've reported the out of order episodes, but if just a few more people send reports around the same time, it's more likely to get the attention and fix it needs. You may need to watch at least a little of the episodes that are listed out of order, then go to Activity, you'll see the episode you looked at, and can report a problem with it, and choose the option that says the episode is out of order, and leave a note with the correct order. Thanks!

Intended order of episodes, so you can include it in your report.

Serenity
The Train Job
Bushwhacked
Shindig
Safe
Our Mrs. Reynolds
Jaynestown
Out of Gas
Ariel
War Stories
Trash (out of order on Netflix)
The Message (out of order on Netflix)
Heart of Gold (out of order on Netflix)
Objects in Space (out of order on Netflix)

P.S. If any of your ships are near Mr. Universe' planet, you're better positioned to broad-wave this message and get the word out to the rest of the 'verse. Keep flying.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

At least it's not as bad as the way IMDb has them listed, with The Train Job first and Serenity after Objects in Space, but it is the broadcast order except for the last three episodes that FOX never aired.

The Message was the last one filmed, so it's not so bad to watch it last, but Objects in Space should definitely come after Trash, since in Trash we see Jubal's ship pass by the window when Mal and Saffron attempt to steal the Lassiter.

Inara's behavior makes much more sense with The Message before Heart of Gold. Her mood and interactions with Mal don't make sense if The Message is the last episode. Plus, the final scene of Objects in Space has Serenity flying off, which is a good "signing off" kind of scene.

Huh, that is strange.
It's been a while since I watched it on Netflix, but I'm relatively sure they had the correct order before.
Amazon and Hulu have the correct.

I am sorry, but your information is incorrect. The originally intended, scripted, filmed sequence of episodes is not WS, Trash, Message, HoG, OiS.
That correct sequence would be WS, HoG, OiS, Trash, Message.
You may also wish to view the "deleted" scene for OiS because that scene, which was originally broadcast within the episode, was replaced with the scene which was re-shot AFTER the cancellation of the series, and inserted into the episode version on DVD.

The episode sequence you have listed, is, IIRC, the rescrambled sequence Joss dictated to be put on the DVDs.

The airing of HoG was refused by Fox, and some scenes re-shot (ending up being the last scenes shot of the series, on "wrap day"). OiS was Aired in it's place, but you must view the post-airing "deleted" scene to understand it clearly.

HoG was filmed the final days of October. OiS was filmed the first week of November. Trash was filmed the end of November. Message was the final episode filmed, cancellation was announced during filming (studio allowed filming to be concluded), during early-mid December. The final scene in Message, they knew it was the final episode.

Just looked at Netflix, they have WS, HoG, OiS, Trash, Message. Which I consider correct, and I will recommend to others.

I think it is safe to call the DVD order the "correct" order in that it is the way Joss wants us to view what we got.
It is curious that Netflix has the order it has, I'm reasonably sure it was different before.

I prefer the FOX order myself. I randomly throw a baseball game or Adam Sandler movie into the mix.
And I watch the last three eps 6 months later.

I have never been able to watch Pilot Serenity last, while avoiding it first.

For clarity, the FOX sequence:
1:TTJ, 2:BW, 5:OMR, baseball,
6:Jaynestown, 7:OoG, 3:Shindig, 4:Safe, 8:Ariel, Happy Gilmore, Brady Bunch,
9:WS, 11:OiS, Pilot.

I would of loved to have seen it first, but I didn't have a choice about it.
