The last thread was becoming unweildy to load at 124 replies.
So let's use this one for new posts.

While watching BDP Serenity today I noticed that when Mal speils the medicine to Whitefall story, Shot of Book looking away, like he knows Mal is lying. Hadn't noticed before.
This means that the ONLY person aboard who doesn't know Mal is lying is Simon. Then at dinner Simon queries Mal about being the Alliance puppet, Simon thinking that Mal is the Alliance danger to him/River!
So when Mal comes to Simon in the Cargo bay and asks how he thought he'd get away with it, Simon was thinking Mal knew about River.
Meanwhile Mal is thinking that Simon is the Alliance mole, and Simon is thinking Mal is the Alliance toady.

Also, after Mal told all passengers to stay out of cargo bay, it just happens that Simon, Book, and Dobson are the only 3 in the cargo bay when Mal comes to confront Simon. How did I miss that before? i think it tickled my mind before, but there was so much going on in that scene.

Ya know, I always kinda wondered why the other 3 people in the hold were the 3 people Mal told NOT to be there.

Simon I understand (checking up on River). Lawrence I understand (following Simon).
But what was Book doing there? It's pretty clear (now) that he knew something was amiss, but I'm still a little confused as to his exact purpose in the hold at that time.

Perhaps this has been mentioned before:

Also in the BDP is a sequence in Badger's den that shows us Zoe's irratition at Mal.

Previously in Serenity, Mal turned over a piece of the cargo to observe an alliance imprint. He flips it quick to keep it hidden but Zoe's intuition, honed from combat, senses something.

"Problem Sir?" she asks. He denies that something is wrong.

Later in Badger's den when Badger brings up the alliance imprints, Joss changes lens focus to show us Zoe's stern glance at her capt. You can almost read her mind as the memory of Mal's lie comes back to her all at once.

Do not fear me. Our's is a peaceful race and we must live in harmony.

Also in BDP, when River startles awake from her sleep, starts calling for Simon and is worried/afraid, Dobson has approached (but still hidden) to snatch her from infirmary. This conveniently allows her to exit the hatch into his arms.
Also adds a point for those debating her clairevoyance, precognition, mind-reading (reading Dobson's), etc. Even when she's sleeping.

I thought they were allowed back there by Mal to retrieve their personal belongings.

They were not allowed without escort, Mal said. No escort there, but all 3 not allowed were there.

I understand their reason for being there, however I was pointing out that they were the only 3 required to have an escort shile there, and none had an escort - so effectively they each and all had no regard for Mal and his directives.
The others were following or bystanding while Simon was there, so Simon was the most obviously and clearly disregarding Mal's directive - why? Wouldn't he most want to not attract attention?

Also, why does Mal at first suspect Simon as being the Mole? Why not Book or Dobson? Book has subsequently been shown to have many more layers than just a preacher, and with considerable law or unlawful experience - how did Mal miss this if he's a good judge of character?
