The BBFC (Britsh rating board) recently rated episodes of Firefly to include commentaries. If the rating to DVD time is as it usually is, the DVD's should be released within 4 months of being rated in R2 by Fox UK.

Yes and it will cost twice as much a the
region 1 dvd set.
just like angle and buffy region 2 boxsets cost £50-£60 but region 1 boxsets cost £35. ( www.play.com) and are identical.
buy a multi-region DVD player or chip/hack your old one.

and sometimes it's the other way round:
just bought "Six Feet Under" season on UK DVDs because they were much cheaper then the US ones.

the main difference seems to be that no spanish and french are included on the UK disks but since I don't understand any spanish or french I don't mind.

multiregion players do have their advantages for everyone. and I need to buy abroad anyways because I'm german and often things are never released here or with a bad audio dubbing and no original.

Actually Fox UK have gotten better with their prices. Yes their early DVD sets (Buffy, Angel and The X-Files) have been rather expensive but the more recent ones have been pretty cheap (24 being a prime example). Not to mention the fact that Firefly is a 4 disc set. Personally I'd expect any R2 release to be around the same price range as The Simpsons (season three was around the £30 mark).

Also I aggree that it does work the other way around sometimes. Babylon 5 is around $100 a season in the USA but I picked up season 2 on launch day here for £40.
