Here's another write-up for Firefly, this time from SCIFI.COM:

Quote:

The Outlook: This is without a doubt the most anticipated genre series of the fall season and for good reason. It's obvious Whedon is no mere mortal. After all, how could he be with four series in production at the same time? But beyond that, his fantasy shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel are the best TV has to offer. His shows are funny, scary and very entertaining. But more importantly, they're consistent, with a true depth of character and story that is rare. For him to delve into the world of science fiction holds a natural appeal. Whether or not Whedon and his crew can pull off another great series is difficult to know at this stage. No pilot has been available for preview and only brief glimpses have been seen. But it sounds and looks fantastic, and more importantly, I trust Whedon to do a good job. As far as the timeslot, there's no serious competition for the series, which will air early on Friday night. The biggest problem will most likely be Fox, considering they don't have much patience these days with new shows. They canceled Dark Angel after all, and that had pretty decent ratings. Fox is looking for a hit to replace The X-Files, and if Firefly doesn't perform quickly, it will flicker out quicker than you can say, "Will Buffy have an eighth season?" So, instead, let's all watch it and see if we like it. After all, with the Farscape cancellation, we need a really great science-fiction show to take its place.

Everybody, take all these pronouncements with a pound of salt. Professional pundits are always making pronouncements about things they know nothing about. They don't need to -- their job is to provoke a response, not to inform or enlighten.

It is a bad day when we have to relie on fox for anything, that deals with sci-fi!!!
To be blunt FOX has made a lot of money of other peoples work and has made unreasoable demands on production companys , much like "SPACE ABOVE AND BEYOND" after the first year fox went to wong , and told him that if he wanted to see another season he would have to forgo all his syndiction rights for destribiting the show ,and when he said no , the next day the show was "Cancelled" and they were going to get ready for anther season!!!
Now look what happen to "Dark Angle" with "James Camron"good writeing , good rateings and a story that could have gone on for three more years, but fox said if you want your budget you got to give us the syndication rights. when something go's to syndication thats when real money is made because there's nothing attach to it bottom line, so you got pure prophit and "FOX" wants the rights to two thirds of it and camron told them to get "F#@%ed" so fox dumped "DARK ANGLE"!!!
And now we have "Firefly" to witch fox holds all the right to for thr first year , and has promised thirteen episodes, okey what then do you give up your copyrights and hop the show get carried for anther season or do you say well thats that!!!

As I said earlyer I don't hold out much hope for the continuation of this show past the thirteen episode's unless it get a 20 share of the market, and fox out side of the Super bowl has never had a show get a 20 share, so let's hope we get the 20 share and pray to the "TV GOD'S" that we get it and fox go'e liberal, but hell heres hopeing!!!

Oh, my! Networks are out to make a profit! Of course FOX is going to want a bigger slice of syndie pie if it's losing money on the first runs. What do you expect? Television is business, not a charity.

Your right, and I fully expect Fox to get thier fair share(thats all)and only there fair share, and not screw everyone in site!!!

I fully expect for them to make a prophet and have no problem with that.

But the avrege TV show makes better the ten million a year, in fact Space above and beyond made over twelve, but had time constrantes, and fox would not let them get somebody else to go to work on the show!!! (THOSE BASTARDS)

I want to find a sci-fi show thats going to be good for everyone, and not be screwed for likeing something(I'm still pissed off about "FARSCAPE") and hope to watch it more then five years!!!

P.S I hope 'FIREFLY" goes to syndication if dumped by fox ,but I bet Fox has got a rebroadcast clause in the contract!!!

WELL HERE'S HOPEING FOR THE BEST!!!
