A strange creepy out there Scientology or Judaism or boys club Freemasonry take on ...something?

strange show? live a quiet life with his wife and stay out of trouble. Until he learns that she's been killed in a terrible accident, right out of a comic book.

if you thought Stan Lee, JMS, Joss, Frank Miller, Alan Moore wrote funny stuff wait until you get a load of this guy

Not the humor type of funny, the suspicious tricky funny ....strange / funny / odd

Live the quiet life in PRISON, ya mean ?

Per most of what is on t.v. these days, I don't first read the source material, be it in a book or some comic book, a.k.a. " graphic novel" .

But I'm enjoying A.G. , for the most part. My main issue is that it's a bit artsy, to the point that it really does drag the story down to a crawl. I get it, there are parts where it makes sense. But over all, I think the style is being used too much, just for filler. Not much happens, story wise, so they must make use of the screen time they are given...

I am enjoying it, but I think I should be enjoying it more. Or do they not want me to ? Kinda seems that way ...

I remember my brother telling me about the book when it came out. Had to be at least 10 years ago. (Maybe there are more of them now?)

He made it sound amazing at the time. I'm thinking I should read it instead of watching the show. Anything I've read talking about the show doesn't sound half as interesting as my brother made the book sound. Then again, he's a natural born story teller.

I'm of the mind that if you've not already read the book(s), then don't bother. Watch the show, enjoy it for what it is ,and then maybe go back and read.

Reading the story first puts images in your head that more often than not, can't be matched with any on screen attempt. Sure, you may find a character, a scene, etc... that comes close, but over all, it'll be one big disappointment.

Lord of the Rings was my experience in that. Then a bunch of Clancy movies, which were far less than the books. Sure, decent enough, but not the same.

If you liked Lord of the Rings, have you read The Deed of Paksennarion?

Nope, never heard of it. After reading The Hobbit, and then LOTR's trilogy, long ago, I found myself wanting more similar type tales. I tried reading a few , but they all lacked Tolkien's depth and passion , not to mention his imagination. In short, I viewed them as pale imitations, more like Tolkien wanna-bees.

As I look back, part of me thinks that I might have been too hasty, and that I should have given other authors more of a chance.

But then as Christopher Tolkien has put more of his father's unpublished work, I've come to realize that , sword and sorcery books are fine enough , but there's no replacing Tolkien. The man created not just realms and characters, but entire languages FOR those people !

I tried reading Harry Potter, for example, and while I did enjoy the first 3-4 books, I couldn't help but notice some devices which were present in Tolkien's books as well. I became to see J.K. Rowling as more of a hack than how the rest of the world viewed her. But heck, even Tolkien used familiar devices. But with him, he was able to formulate a backstory to everything which added, more than merely took from those existing themes.

Hope that answers your question.

Elizabeth Moon created the original trilogy The Deed of Paksenarrion (the name of the title spurned my interest for far too long - until it was the last title available that I hadn't read from that author) in the 1980's. It has dwarves, wizards, Orcs, Elves, Nobles, but no Hobbits. And not really in Middle Earth. LOTS of backstory.
That has become my favorite book(s) - the trilogy is available in a single volume a bit over 1,000 pages (1,022 IIRC). The 3 books were Sheepfarmer's Daughter (1988), Divided Allegiance, Oath of Gold (1989).
She followed up with 2 prequels of the world by 1992.
Almost 20 years after the original trilogy, after a few other series that she wrote, she returned (as promised) to the world and dropped another 5 books with most of the same characters.
Most of her protagonists are women.
I highly recommend them. She also has a fantastic Space Epic series referred to as Serrano/Suiza, and the Suiza part accelerates with Once A Hero.

Well that article headline is a little loaded, given the current circumstances.

The first half of the article all but confirms that this show was going to end after Season 2 in the first place.

Then it spends the greater part of the 2nd half going into these allegations.

DISCLAIMER: I don't believe I've ever watched or read anything by Gaiman before, and never even heard of a show called The Sandman before clicking on the Variety link above.

That being said. I know nothing about the guy.

But I absolutely don't believe any accusations of sexual harassment levied against him.

Period.

You've been destroying white men in positions of power for decades now using this shit. We're done with that.

So its 5-10 MeToo now?

he settled with lots of NDA with various women paying some for silence $300,000.

jumped on his house cleaners, maids, sexually doing stuff in front of kids

could get it up in front of his 'wife' Amanda Palmer a musician, she was a 'swinger' and he would only get excited watching other dudes with his so called wife

a fan says he raped her in England, despite telling him she had developed a urinary tract infection that would make it painful, in South West England.

Scarlett Pavlovich, in New Zealand settled for an NDA and Palmer declined to be interviewed....by Police?

but some of them are into their weird kinky stuff?

Quote:

The women's allegations were revealed in a podcast series by Tortoise Media, 'Master: the allegations against Neil Gaiman', which made clear that both women were in consensual relationships with the writer.

They both claim they were subjected to physically painful and degrading sexual encounters during their relationships with Mr Gaiman.

One of the women told the podcast they had a three-week sexual relationship and that he told her: 'I'm your master. Call me master.'

She said he had choked her and that one encounter was so painful that she lost consciousness, and that she found it 'abhorrent and degrading'.

The woman said she met Mr Gaiman in 2022 while he was married to his then wife Amanda Palmer.

The pair were in an open marriage and lived in separate houses on the exclusive island of Waiheke, near Auckland.

The woman alleged when she arrived at Mr Gaiman's house the writer sexually assaulted her that night.

But the podcast featured a message she sent him the next day, in which she wrote: 'Thank you for a lovely, lovely night. Wow x.'

Both women claim they were subjected to physically painful and degrading sexual encounters during their relationships with Mr Gaiman.

but then...

THREE more women have come forward with allegations.

"The allegations come weeks after Gaiman strongly denied allegations of "non-consensual sex" and "sexual assault" reported in an investigation by Tortoise.

IMO police should be questioning Amanda palmer.
