When you say "little girl", are you talking about the one with the fancy make-up & costume? If so, that's the Queen of Naboo (played by Oscar nominated Keisha Castle-Hughes, fact fans). The funeral took place on Naboo although that's maybe not clear.

If you're talking about someone else - haven't a clue!

(help me - 25 mins into the Holiday Special and have had to stop as my eyes are bleeding! Watch this and you will NEVER complain about the new movies again...)

DARTHMOWZY

The little girl that I am talking about is shown before the queen. Right before Jar Jar to be exact.

Im not sure who the two people are that are shown right before this little girl either.

I don't remember exactly what order the queen and the girl I'm talking about came in, I think it was the order that DarthMowzy posted. But I know the girl I'm talking about isn't the queen. I had no problem identifying the queen of Naboo. The camera zoomed in on this little girl's face. She had blond hair I think, if that's any help.

INDIGO

I wish that I could write more about all this, but thankfully so many of you already have made some excellent (and/or at least heartfelt) responses... so, as it is the end of a very long, lovely weekend I'll merely chime in with two wee remarks, by no ways meant as anything but my own and a few other close friends' semi-inexpert opinions ('cuz we all grew up with SW and do love it no matter what):

WTF is up with Obi-Wan looking half dosed with NyQuil as his student-nemisis lies grotesquely charring in a slag heap? Yes, Anakin has turned from the Force, he's revoked his license to basic humanity; and you Obi, you're fed up, you're horrified, you've sliced off his limbs and are (slowly) watching him burn... but, after all he *just*won't*listen*to*you*(very politely)dammit!
Sooo... what does a good Jedi do? Put him out of his misery? No! Lucas makes us watch McGregor try to make sense out of Obi-Wan not doing the right thing -- and to not show too much chagrin about it either. I was looking, trying to parse it out, was that shock on his face, revulsion, regret? I mean, Vader's evil right? No, wait, that's poor Mr. McGregor trying to suffer through another retake of this scene! ("Must.Not.Emote!")
Yeah, Vader had to suffer this and live (elsewise we'd have never been treated to Ep. IV and the whole damn story), but that scene could've been handled a bit better for Obi-Wan's honour's sake. I don't know, even so much as him being over-come by heatstroke; temporary insanity ("I-yee! I-yee! I have disgustingly and campily dismembered my old friend and student-who-has-turned-to-the-Dark-Side, I must flee and drink myself into oblivion!"); or even, "Crap, I better get back to Padme quick!"

The other, the other... oh yea, I wouldn't have thought about it much but C-3PO *did* get the last line in the movie. Waaaay back before I started to squirm unconfortably from the saccharin into-the-sunset hand off of the twins. I don't think that I've *ever* been that bored with the final moments of a film. It's a real Hallmark*tm moment alright.
I liked (well, I understood) that there was a lot of connective ground to cover between III and the rest of the story, and I tried not to have a checklist in my head ("yep, yep, ok, got that, stormtroopers, move along..."), and I tried not to sigh at the gratuitous "Here's Chewie!" scene. I did a self-conscious internal happy dance when we saw Padme's Butterfly Maiden/Cinnamon Sticky Bun hairdo (oooh, I see, it's genetic), and I really did like Senator Palpatine's transformation into the Evil "You're bad, bad man!" Emperor... but as the sun set on Tatooine I thought, is this how legends end, with thunderous yawns?

...Meanwhile, on the far side of the universe, Han Solo and Malcolm Reynolds are drinking and plotting revolution... yay!

Beware of Geeks bearing gifs.
Blessed are the Geeks for they shall internet the world.

I'm relieved that you weren't talking about the Queen - how could anyone NOT recognise those crazy Naboo clothes! But now I'm going to have to go and look for this little girl, damn it!

Trying to remember back to AOTC when we met Padme's family - did she have sisters? Cousins? More handmaidens?! I doubt there's any great significance to this - probably just "sad girl" to denote we're at a funeral and should all be upset.

The little girl, I believe, is Padmé's niece. Of course it isn't necessary to know that to get the impact of the scene, but it's a nice little nod to the Attack of the Clones deleted scene.

As for the film itself, it was easily the best Star Wars movie in a quarter of a century.
