NBC released their schedule for next year today. Not that anybody expected otherwise, but Surface is now officially not returning next season.

The only potential sci-fi shows on NBC's schedule are "Heroes" and "Raines" (Raines is a midseason pickup that looks like yet another Medium/ Ghost Whisperer type show where a cop talks to the dead to help solve his cases)

Heroes:

Premise: A group of people discover that they have extraordinary powers, ranging from the ability to fly to hearing other people's thoughts.

Stars: Greg Grunberg ("Alias"), Ali Larter ("A Lot Like Love"), Milo Ventimiglia ("Gilmore Girls"), Hayden Panettiere ("Ice Princess"), Adrian Pasdar ("Judging Amy"), Leonard Roberts ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), Santiago Cabrera ("Empire"), Tawny Cypress ("Third Watch"), Masi Oka ("Scrubs"), Noah Gray-Cabey, Sendhil Ramamurthy

Studio: NBC Universal TV

Producers: Tim Kring ("Crossing Jordan"), David Semel ("House," "American Dreams"), Dennis Hammer ("Crossing Jordan")

The Man They Call Soul...

Yeah, I saw that this morning. Sucks about Surface. Heroes may have some potential, though.

Likes to mess with stuffs.

NBC should have stuck with Surface. From what I heard, prior to the Olympics, the series was doing pretty good and was picking up new viewers.

As for Heroes, sounds like it's a copy of "The 4400."

The road to Hel is paved with good intentions

I never watched Surface so I'm not too broken up about that.
Heroes, on the other hand, I am really excited about. I read about it the other week and thought it sounded like a cool idea for a series, then when I read Greg Grunberg would be in it, that sealed it for me.
I am totally a Greg junkie. I loved him in Alias, his short appearances in Lost, and that split second appearance in MI3. He was also in Dead Zone did you know. Pity the episode was on the dull side.

Whatever happened to JJ Abrams' series featuring Greg Grunberg in the lead as a Bounty Hunter?

This news really sucks... it was filmed right by my office... and there is hardly anything filmed here at all... I was hoping to keep the genre in this town and develop a community of sci-fi industrialites... something besides teeny-world dramas.

I even had hope after they got rid of the set pieces and donated the clothing.

OK. I'll stop whining

It was decent show... should of gave it a chance...

WAHHHHHHHH!!!! I loved that show. It was so different from most of the stuff I'd been watching. I love scifi but most of the crap out these days sucks. So I mostly watch drama's. I think I won't be watching much TV this fall because most of what I watch now I'm getting bored with. It'll be Crossing Jordan, Medium, and Lost for me and that's about it.

One day.
One plan.
One army of Browncoats.

On June 23rd, we aim to misbehave.

Lot of no-names in the cast list. I dont mind about such though, but it could hurt the series with pulling mainstream audience. Got all the feel of a one seasoner here. Hope it does good though, sounds interesting.

You can’t stop the Signal.
Keep spreading the word about Firefly!

So how did surface end? Was there some form of conclusion or was it just the traditional, "Let's film a cliff-hanger and then cancel the show," deal?

Think its still on Universal HD so...JIC

Select to view spoiler:

Really it did... they left it open ended... but, most of the mysteries of the show were unfolded quickly... The characters from the two main storyarcs meet at the end before the flood...

One of my sisters pulled a "Firefly" on me -- (basically to get even with me for introducing them to Firefly and finding out it was cancelled) and loaned me her DVD copy of Surface.

Luckily, before I started watching it, I talked to another of my sisters (I have 5) who informed me of it's cancelled status. However, I still got completely sucked in by this show during episode one. I think I watched all the episodes in 3 days.

The only thing about the show that bugged me was the kid with Nimrod, but other than that, I thought the show was GREAT!

It ends on a cliffhanger, which is really annoying.

Just what I needed -- another TV show to lament...
