Good looking cast in general.

From IMDB:
Today Detective Brett Hopper will be accused of shooting state attorney Alberto Garza. He will offer his rock solid alibi. He will realize he's been framed. And he will run. Then he will wake up and start the day over again.

Sounds like Groundhog Day meets The Fugitive.

Taye Diggs .... Brett Hopper (8 episodes, 2006)
Michael McGrady .... Buchalter (7 episodes, 2006)

Joe Nieves .... Fencik (7 episodes, 2006)

Adam Baldwin .... Chad Shelten (6 episodes, 2006)

Moon Bloodgood .... Rita Shelten (6 episodes, 2006)
Meta Golding .... Jennifer Mathis (6 episodes, 2006)

Victoria Pratt .... Andrea Battle (6 episodes, 2006)

Also, the blonde standing next to him is Victoria Pratt (I always click on the babes in these photos when I'm in IMDB) who starred alongside one GINA TORRES in a show called Cleopatra 2525. Which I never saw, even though it was filmed in NZ.

Firstly, hi all I'm a complete newbie to site, just finished tinkering with my profile.

Secondly, I think the blonde standing next to our boy is 'Shalimar' (? spelling may be off) from Mutant X. Apologies if you'd already realised this and I'm just stating the obvious.

Mal gives control of the ship to Zoe...
Mal: If I'm not back in an hour, you come, and you rescue me.
Zoe: What? And risk my ship?

a gift for any fan-ficcer here. I had half a concept for a fanfic-- a Pygmalion story- , but could never get it written.
Crew needs an inside man for a hi-society heist. Mal can't do it, wounded. Hasta be Jayne. so they clean him up, teach him manners, ettiquette, proper speech, dress him up ( looks a lot like Bond, in a tux.) Lots of comic bits ( " we applied the cortical electrodes--") comic mishaps occur before the job is a success.

Any fan-ficcer here wants it, grab it and run...

OK, I saw previews for this show for about 2 weeks now and each time I thought, "I am never watching this, it looks stupid." I mean, I saw the movie Ground Hog's Day and really disliked it. Now, I have to watch it!!! This just ruins and makes my whole day. I'll support him beings he was one of my top 9 favorite people from the show.

CYBERSNARK

Once again, Adam is the tallest person on the cast.

I'm getting the Groundhog's Day vibe, but to me it sounds more like Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask --he gets a certain span of time that he has to use to make a difference (as opposed to just learning a lesson, or whatever the point of Groundhog's Day was).

(In Majora's Mask, Link has three days before the moon falls from the sky and destroys Hyrule. During that three days, he has to find and awaken the Four Giants, learn a book's worth of magic spells [in the form of melodies], collect 20 odd masks that grant him various magical powers, and recover the severed remains of 12 Great Faeries so that they may be reborn. One of the first song/spells he learns is the Song of Time, which allows him to return to dawn on the First Day. He has to keep repeating the three days, slowly unravelling the secret and trying to save as many lives as possible. All of this building up to the last cycle, where he has to go through the three days and hit every goal in quick succession [gather your weapons, kill the four demon guardians, break the four curses, revive the Great Faeries, save a little girl from getting brain-raped, help two cursed lovers get back together, finish the life's work of a dead man, sacrifice each of the masks to gain new power to kill Majora, etc], saving the day in "real-time.")

I'm guessing that the season/series finale is gonna show the lead trying to make his "perfect possible" future (clear his name, stop his wife from getting killed, bring down the bad guy, stop whatever's making time repeat).

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound negative, it was just what I thought when I saw the previews. At the time I didn't know that Jayne would be in it. My brother had to just about tie me down to get me to watch Firefly and I'm so thankful that he did, so I'll keep an open mind tonight.

I'm not flaming, JLin, just laughing because that's actually what I thought when I read early descriptions of Firefly. I wish the reviews for Daybreak were as glowing as Firefly's reviews were. Well, we can all hope for our BDH's sake.

Jayne is my son's favourite because he is also a big-hearted, big-framed boy.

BTW, thanks for the pics, Jadehand.

STINKINGROSE

If I could watch the series I would have not one but two reasons to tune in.
Taye Diggs is always a good reason to watch a show. If he's in it HE at least will be good. Period.
I was in the theatre department with him in college. No, I didn't "know him when". He was acting, I was tech/design. He would probably have no idea who you were talking about if you mentioned me unless he'd made it a point to learn the names of everyone working and studying around him and kept a mental file on them all for over fifteen years. Everyone just sort of knew who Taye was. He had "IT". Talented. Period. A known Triple Threat.
He may have smiled at me in the hallway once, but he smiled at everyone.
If you'd ever seen his smile in person you'd remember it. It had wattage behind it.
I still get a thrill every time I see he's doing well. It's always a happy making thing when someone you knew is doing well.

The first time I saw his name professionally was in a movie theater. I was umph months pregnant and trying to escape the heat in the air conditioned theater. There was a freestanding poster for the soon to be released How Stella Got Her Groove Back. I was reading the billing:
Angela Bassett.
Whoopi Goldberg.
Taye Diggs.
WHAT?!!?
Taye Diggs.
Nawww. But who else could it be?!
Had to wait until the release to be sure. Yes! It was him! He was good! Yay Taye! Five years had been kind to him. Every time since that I've heard he's in something I've tried to make sure I at least rented it if I couldn't get out to see it. (No pun intended.)(Rent.)(Nevermind.)
Now he's acting with Adam Baldwin. That's at least two good actors in the show. There is potential here for some serious non-suckage regardless of the rest of the cast, directors, premise, plot, and script. If everyone else is as good as those two it could be a really great show.

You know, I love Adam, really I do. But this character is slimier than Jayne could ever hope to be. Add the suit, and he's like Hamilton's evil twin. All in all, though, great show so far. It really sucks you in. Though I hope the "every day is the same" bit doesn't get too overdone.

Saw it. Liked the show! Think I'm gonna keep with it. Adam definitely plays a great bastard. Very much shines in this show. I love when he starts goating Taye Diggs with that lil "shower" comment. Considering the fall in ratings as the show went (8.0/12 in the first hour, 6.0/10 in the second with each half hour losing viewers), who knows if it was firefly fans that were hanging in there. Still the 6.0/10 is still higher than what Firefly was doing on Fox.

I can't wait to see the people complain that Day Break wasn't promoted well enough, or marketed correctly, or believed in enough, or was too intelligent for viewers, etc.

I was pleasantly surprised by it, and will continue to watch to see how it develops. It had some stiff competition with NBC premiering a two-hour Medium against it. Adam had a larger role that I was anticipating, although not enough to satisfy the Bunkmates I'm sure.

There were more changes on the second and third go round than I was expecting, mainly because everyone seems to have been comparing it to Groundhog Day, and the changes in that were very minor throughout the film.

I was actually pretty surprised myself by this. Well, I was a little skeptical of the show, thinking, how in the world are they gonna pull this off. But, without giving anything away to anyone, there were some really shocking changes from each go-around. I think this show might actually have a shot (my love of Adam Baldwin aside). And if it doesn't we can all get the DVD's and talk about it in a very lovely thread.

Has Joss written more eps or movies? Cos as I see it, there are definitely two more movies to be made from it that are solely Reaver-centric.

Has no connection to Ultraviolet at all. No vampires of any type, not sure why anyone got that idea.

It's a murder/political conspiracy mystery, with the twist being that Taye Diggs' character is reliving one day over and over. Each "day" he retains the information he learned previously, so he has a chance to alter events and hopefully figure out why and by whom he has been framed for murder.

Adam plays a fellow police officer, an Internal Affairs investigator, who happens to be the ex-husband of Diggs' current girlfriend.

It's also starting to look like Adam's character isn't the asshat he appeared to be in the first few loops. It looks like he's genuinely doing his job, convinced that Hopper's the murderer.

He's not in on it, he's just a pawn, and one that could end up helping Hopper.

I agree on that. It seems the antagonism that he has toward Hopper is simply because Hopper is now with his ex-wife, and they were also former partners, so there may be other bad blood between them.

There was one scene in the second hour that I found interesting. It was when Hopper's current partner was in Adam's office the second time around. Adam got a look on his face, seemed like a sort of deja vu look, just before he asked her if she thought Hopper had committed the murder. She answers no even before he finishes the question. I got the impression that in subsequent episodes other people are going to start having more of those deja vu moments, and that Hopper might tell others what is happening to him, and they might remember that from "day" to "day."

An Adamrific episode.

From a Whedonesque link:
Looks like the December 13 show will be particularly interesting for us as

Select to view spoiler:

the show runner says that Taye Diggs will take Adam Baldwin hostage in the police station.

He says its the 5th episode which I calculate as Dec 13.

And I agree that as time goes on, characters will get more nuanced and less black and white. Here's hoping that AB ends up a good guy.

How weird was it to hear him spouting off all that quantum physics technobabble? Adam playing a smart guy, who could've seen that coming?

Looks like the show may have been cancelled.

According to Variety, Lost is moving into it's slot, and no new night or time has been announced for the show.

Daybreak is a short run (17 ep) series to fill the gap while Lost is on hiatis until February or something.

ABC is moving Lost to 10 pm and Daybreak is moving there now too. Unless the ratings pick up there won't be a season 2.

But if they cancelled it they'd have to show re-runs of Lost in the spot. That's what they were trying to avoid because the number of re-runs made viewers mad last year.
