At the suggestion of a friend, I've recently started watching Farscape (actually, it was a deal, I'd start watching his favorite show if he'd order the DVD's of mine, Firefly). I'm really enjoying it, but it's confusing the hell out of me.

Is there any sort of rhyme or reason to the order in which Sci-Fi shows the episodes? It seems to me I've not only been jumped around from season to season but within a season as well. Any suggestions anyone has on how to figure out what has and hasn't already happened (without completely spoiling all the other episodes) when I'm watching a given episode would be great.

Why do they make it so hard to start watching these shows? I mean, what's so hard about airing the episodes in order?

I've often wondered why Sci-Fi does that. They also keep changing the time it airs. But the website had a really well-organized guide to the show. Check www.scifi.com/farscape look at the primer and the journeylogs. It's completely worth it if you can get the story in order. Without that, I can see why you'd be confused.

You know just like any sci-fi show you have to buy it to get it in the right order. But don't worry Farscape is worth it. So if it ain't in the right order on T.V. get the DVD, it's worth it.

The only problem with buying the Farscape DVDs is that the cheapest price I have found for a season box set is somewhere in the area of $90. Which is a little high for one season of a show. So right now I just downloaded them all and burned them onto a series of CD's. Which will do for now.

The DVD's are priced a little rich for my current grad student stipend budget -- I'm just sort of muddling along and bugging friends who are fans when I get too lost. Thankfully, SciFi is in first season right now, so I'm not too terribly confused. Most of the time.

I feel for Farcape fans as it became a really terrific show. Too bad that SG-1 crap got Farscape cancelled.

That's natural for Farscape Hard enough to follow even if you see every episode.

Cost of the DVDs is ridiculous compared to all other TV shows it seems - in the UK they released 4 episodes at a time for the price of a movie, whereas you can get the entire season of B5 for under half the price of half a season of FS. They released season one as a single box and wonder why it didn't sell at close to £100 ($175 I think at current rates)

it's too damn expensive but it is worth watching and if you have the money worth buying.

I bought the UK boxes but they released it in 5 boxes per season (that's 20 boxes for the whole show) and they each cost about 13-18 GBP if you got them cheap ( www.bensons-world.co.uk). the SRP was 25 GBP per box, that's $46 per box or $230 per season or $920 for all 4 seasons. that's stupid pricing. if you buy them today at bensons the whole show would cost you 275 GBP that's $493. but the US season box sets are a bit cheaper I think.

that's a lot of money but also a very good SciFi show if you watch it in order and with your brain switched on ;o)
everything else would be very confusing and is really not recommended.

but if you get confused and have questions just ask. I'd be happy to answer.

It's a cryin' shame they've made it so gorram expensive, cos it's really worth the time to watch it. I'll admit I'm a Scaper first and a Browncoat second, but I gotta say, I'm wearing my coat more of'n that not these days.

One helpful thing to do is to sort out the opening credits and get your friends to match each with the proper season--they change slightly each year, and different characters are featured in them. That would at least tell you which season you're watching without undue spoilage.

To those scapers who haven't bought boxed sets yet. I noticed amazon.co.uk doing a fantastic deal for them considering the original price of £100. They are going for £43.97 (at least they were when I ordered my season 2 boxed set, too good an offer for me to resist). I'm not sure if the price is still the same though. Keep in mind also that they dispatch after 1-2 weeks so you could be waiting for a while. Hurry while it's still at that price(may have changed by now).

It was my birthday recently so I decided to get some DVDs. I loved Farscape and Firefly(Farscape moreso) and decided to try and get into babylon 5. So I bought myself the Firefly boxed set(amazing, love the making of..documentary) Farscape Season 2 boxed set( I already bought the first one for £85 for my last birthday) and the first season of babylon 5 to see if i liked it. All for a grand total of £103.97, which is just a little more than the original price of the farscape boxed sets. I got the Firefly box earlier as the dispatch time was within 24 hours, I'm still waiting for the other two boxed sets both of which had a dispatch date of 1-2 weeks

For anyone who can't justify the expense of buying DVDs, I know a lot of Scapers donated DVDs to libraries.... It's worth the look IMO. :)
