See, this qualifies as a 'science fiction series' because cops from this planet don't really get to drive cars as cool as Crocket & Tubbs did...

Okay, "Miami Vice" is hardly sci-fi, but then again, Kevin Smith claims "Chasing Amy" is a sci-fi movie too. LOL.

Personally, I think the strongest season was the first one. The second season is almost as good, then the quality drops like a stone after that.

Funny thing is, the early seasons of Miami Vice are still better than Mann's faux hyper reality movie verson. The actors were better (though Eddie Olmos still rocks), but the story wasn't that good.

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

Just watchin' the second season now for the first time since I was a kid- it's pretty damn good...first season was grittier in some ways, but this season is like, they'd shaken the bugs out...I've read season three is worth getting- some even say it was the best season due to the dark, but everyone seems to agree 4 & 5 are incredibly uneven, with lots of 'misses'.

Yeah, season 3 was darker, but it got predictable too. If the story had a way to have a "dark" ending, they always went that route. I liked that Miami Vice had the guts to not have every episode end in a positive way, but by season 3, it was so predictable because it always ended that way. "The guy's going to get off, but as he's leaving, the wronged woman, or the dirty cop, or the competition's henchmen, is going to off him on the court house stairs". Wow, it didn't see that coming!!! *sarcasm*

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

I remember (20 years ago) goin' "Holy s**t" a lot during later seasons...but I also remember losing interest 'round there too. I remember watching the series finale though, and thinking it was a pretty good ending. But I ain't gonna buy season 5 just to see it again

Still playin' with the idea of pickin' up season three though- Jan Hammer was still doing the music at that point.

This is cool.
One of the must watch shows at the time and it still holds up now.

I finished season 2 a little while ago.
Watching season 3 of Airwolf at the mo'. Just read the thread about the auction.
Then gonna do Vice season 3.

I was always and still am a fan of Izzy so any episode with him in is great.

I remember an interview where Eddie Olmos said that he was the highest paid actor per-word on TV at that time because Castillo was so laconic.

Season 1 is grittier, I can agree with that. Season 2 had more polish. Looking forward to season 3 as that's when the Testarossa appears (plus a sorta cameo from Airwolf in the first episode). Season 4 was okay and season 5 was poor but both these last two had some cracking episodes. I particularly enjoyed the season 4/5 cliffhanger when Crockett lost his memory and went bad. Some people blame 4+5 as poor because Don Johnson took more background control and used his 'star power' to get what he wanted. Don't know if it's true or not.

Overall I'd go with 1,2,3,4,5.
Hey, in release order.

Surprisingly so- the most dated element IMO are the cordless phones- they have little antennas

Only a couple of eps from that season I like. First season is absolute GOLD. If only Airwolf's subsequent seasons held up as well as Vice's...

Yeah the phones are funny.
I never been to Miami but I still imagine the locals dress in a similar way. Pastels, bright colours, patterned shirts.
I also like spotting when Elvis is real or fake. Usually fake when you see the cast on screen.

As for Airwolf I like S1+2 and decided to get three to finish off Hawkes era.
I'm not gonna touch S4 tho', if I can even admit that it really exists.

I love the music in Moffatts Ghost (goes and puts soundtrack on my hi-fi) and Fallen Angel is one of my faves. I also like HX-1 from S2. First time you really see Airwolf up against competition thats even close to Airwolfs capabilities.
Until Redwolf that is....but the pilot of that chopper sucked.

Coolest of all the supervehicles. The howl it made would be really scary in a real life situation.

Hell no.
Not me.
Wasn't there.
I didn't do it.
You can't prove a thing.

Who would be silly enough to pay that amount for 2 cd's. Bloody nuts they are. Banged up they should be.

Seriously, I got it from iTunes. And it's really good, the closest thing to an 'official' soundtrack out there. Sylvester LeVay actually does some of the music.
