America loves a winner!

I'm confused. Didn't we already see this pile of suck, in actual Lucasfilm live action form, as in Attack of the Clones ?

ZEEK

That was just the start of the clone wars. We never saw the actual war. Though we did see a lot of it in the clone wars cartoon show which this is going to redo to some extent.

Now the part I haven't researched enough is whether or not we should care at all about the movie. The movie is the lead in to the tv show version on cartoon network (I think that's where it is). At one point I read the movie is just the first two episodes on the big screen. Not sure if that means when the tv show launches they'll show the episodes on tv or not. Cause personally I don't feel like paying movie ticket prices for more Lucas spew. Though I probably will watch it on TV.

Funny thing is that the clone wars cartoons were fairly decent IMO. They were more action oriented and just told bits and pieces of the war. It seems to be how lucas thinks. He doesn't really handle the big arcs but he can handle "I've got this idea for a cool battle under water".

yea, this version of the clone wars looks like it's going to be vastly inferior to the one that played on cartoon network. At the moment I'm not planning on seeing it or watching the show it will spawn

JONGSSTRAW

If there's one solitary molecule of money left to squeeze out of Star Wars, Lucas will find a way. Because he has the force....no, not the midichloriate(?) force... no, the force of his presence to intimidate people to just say yes George to anything he says. That's the ONLY explanation for his last 3 movies...no one told the Emperor he had no clothes. They're just workin' folk, and need a job.

as far as I can tell from the trailer there isn't anything new or original there for me. Okay, I didn't see the Clone Wars cartoon, but just looking at what that film features.
Lightsaber battles: been there
Dog fights: done that
Grand exposition shots of some planet with marching clone armies: bought the T-shirt
A Sith villain with a double-bladed lightsaber: Now, there's something new,.. no wait, there isn't; okay, this time it's a girl, but please.

Actually, I'm rather looking forward to the live action series set between Episodes 3 and 4, although even there I am not expecting much new. I just hope it's less Jedi stuff. Yeah, I actually mean that. Back in the days of the "original" trilogy, Jedi powers were special and mysterious, in the new trilogy there were just so many martial-arts-style jedi super-fighters, no one seemed to use blasters anymore.
okay, I digress, i better stop.

I was willing to forgive Lucas for the prequels, I never thought they were as bad as some people did.
But then Indy 4 came out and that was it for me. OK Indy wasn't all his fault but it was enough to make me decide that he's not getting a penny more from me.

If I decide to be bothered to watch this I shall wait for my brother to get a copy or obtain it through other means. The Clone Wars cartoons were only mediocre and this seems in a similar vein.

As for the live action series it's too early for me to say but I might give it a go if it looks alright.

i believe the problem with george at the moment is that he has no will to make anything new and just wants to rehash old ideas ,this is especially bad as every time he does a new project a small part of my childhood is destroyed .I loved indy and starwars originals when i was young but any thing he has done recently has been total pants.he really should give up or at least use his technical knowhow and studios to help up and coming directors and not just keep reheating the same old ideas . I think the reality of his situation is very similar to the one portrayed in the southpark episode with him and speilberg .anyhow all the best miike

October 12th, 1985. Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach. This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown.

Yeah that SP episode was funny and I agree it is accurate of the way he is now.

Spielberg was my big hope for Indy 4. I at least like (if not more, some are my faves of all time) most of his films, with just a couple of exceptions. And I thought with him directing and promising to reign in the FX that we would be alright. I was wrong.

I always thought that part of the enduring magic of the OT was that you DIDN'T know everything. There were rumours, speculation and occasionally interviews that gave bits away, but by and large the backstory to Vader and the Clone Wars etc was guesswork.
Now to have it all explained takes away that part of the magic. I agree with you that he should just leave it alone. What he did for the film industry with the OT and ILM was amazing. He should definitely stay in the background and leave SW as it is.

OPTIMUS1998

I really liked the "original" clone wars cartoons on cartoon network back in '04-'05,

now i'm not sure who is penning this new batch, but we must remember that 'ol georgie boy ain't above wiping out established history / events /anything else , in thw SW universe if it didn't flow from his pen.

the first round was written/directed by Gennedy Tartakovsky (if you don;t know who he is, if you watched cartoon network at all in the late 90's-early 2000's you know his work - 2 stupid dogs, Dexter's Laboratory, powerpuff girls, Samurai Jack) who was given pretty much carte blanche by Lucas & Co. some minimal plot points, and characters, but the actual stories and events had nearly no oversight from lucasfilm.

which is exactly why this new run could completely contradict the original, and unless lucas is involved with the writing of this batch, they too could be meaningless, if he decides to write the next batch, etc, etc.

in short, pretty much ANYTHING you think you know about the starwars story could change at the whim of george.

SINGATE

Apparently there was some sort of falling out between Tartakovsky and the suits at Lucasfilm. With this new series it looks at though they will be expanding upon his storyline and upgrading the graphics to a more CGI animated look. As much as I like everything Star Wars I can't see shelling out cash to see this in a theatre. This movie essentially serves as the pilot for the series which leads me to believe it will air on Cartoon Network at some point.

CYBERSNARK

(Which is great if you happen to have Cartoon Network. Remember that almost 50% of the planet is not the USA.)

I'll be seeing it, even if it does smack of Lucas seeing what Tartakovsky did and saying "hey, that's kinda cool. . . Gimme that. HEY EVERYBODY, LOOK WHAT I'M DOING!!!"

I just rewatched the Tartakovsky series, and there's a time jump right after Anakin becomes a knight. He loses the braid, and the next time we see him, he's got his shoulder-length RotS 'do. The CGI series has his hair at what looks like halfway between the two styles, so it could likely fit in there. Grievous is still a threat, as are Asajj and Durge.

And Lucas' involvement is. . . ambiguous. He's credited as the screenwriter, but that may just be for the pilot/movie (if even that much; I'm sure his Highness isn't above playing fast and lose with other peoples' screen credits).

Tartakovsky's series and the Republic Commando novels were the best things to come out of the Prequel era, and this looks to combine elements of both. Knowing that this is basically a series pilot (and that Lord Lucas would never sully his hands to screenwrite a full series), I'm hoping series writers George Krstic (co-creator of Megas XLR), Henry Gilroy (Transformers Animated: "Sound and Fury"), Paul Dini (Justice League Unlimited), and Scott Murphy (Angel) at least got to offer ideas.

To me this movie seems like a bad fanfiction. They should really leave Star Wars alone now, because in my opinion, they stopped being good after the original ones.

SLOWHAND

I had a conversation with a friend of mine the other day about this that went something like this:

Friend: So? Clone Wars?
Me: Yeah, I saw the trailer.
Friend: You gonna see it?
Me: Yeah. You?
Friend: Yeah. You think it will be any good?
Me: Honestly, I think it's gonna suck.
Friend: Yeah. Me too.

LOL! I'm a Star Wars fan, but I really am quite sure this is gonna be terrible. The real reason I want to see it is that I do CG animation as a hobby. I love looking at animation for the art form that it is. I'm going to see it for that reason. I just want to see the camera angles they chose and the visuals.

WHOOPS

I hated it, if it was just a film on its own then id say it would have been great, but as i want to know more about the whole story then it just felt like some sort of filler like you get in anime.
