I know some of you find cheaper deals around, but I just noticed some sale prices on series. Walamrt had Chuck for $20 per season, and 300 down to $13. Other series also $20.
Shopko had many series on sale for $20 per season. Including Bones, Heroes, others that I've seen listed here. Some of these series were normal priced at $55.
Some of these sale prices listed for only til 30 May, others for longer.
just giving the heads up.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Thanks for the tip Jewelstaitefan. I'll be checking them out tonight to see what sets they have to choose from.

I never could find any good deals at Walmart for the series (or would it be serieses, since there are several? ;) ) I was looking for.

I do note that Weeds Season 4 comes out Tuesday this week, and BuyMore - er, I mean BESTBUY - has it for $25.99.

Wish I could find a decent deal on True Blood.

Based upon recommendations from here, I've just picked up Bones (reg $52, now $20), Heroes, Burn Notice (same price discounts), and Chuck. Do I need to leave the house for the next few weeks? I might miss Firefly by the time I catch up.

I never got into Bones, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with Chuck, Burn Notice or season 1 of Heroes.

I like Bones just fine, but I'm not likely to buy it on DVD. Chuck is a blast, as is Burn Notice, which is one of my favorites of the last couple years.

I don't know how much gritty realism you like in your viewing, but if you're into that kind of thing, check into The Shield or The Wire. The first can be just plain nasty in its depiction of cops - yet you still kind of understand how even the dirtiest of them get that way. The latter is simply some of the best television ever made.

I completely enjoy burn notice and have not missed an episode...but I'm getting tired of this ongoing episode formula.

First establish a long term plotline (LTP), then:

1. Open the episode with a single event related to the LTP.
2. Return from the 1st commercial break to watch the protagionist encounter someone that needs help.
3. Detail a series of mis-adventures that follow the protagionist as he helps the victim. His long term goal for the episode will succeed, but toss in short term failures to create "suspense".
4. Finish the episode with a single event related to the LTP.

Angel used to do this a lot in season 1 but Joss, ever the master of the TV medium, was able to take things in radical directions....even to the center of Wolfram & Hart. I hope the writers for Burn Notice take us places beyond the scope of a merc-for-hire in Miami because right now watching BN makes me feel like I'm back in High School playing Shadowrun.

A good way to improve things would be some Michael Westin backstory. From there we could get some character development.

Well, I've tried Chuck for a bit, enjoy Adam as usual, but not as good to start with as I'd hoped. Hope it'll get better.
Switched to Bones. Seems better, and early ep has Due South alum in it. But apparently hottie palientologists with high IQs and basic reasoning skills only own low-cut blouses and pushup bras, seems kinda unrealistic.
However, in the course of wading through all this, I am developing an awareness: Firefly (which I never saw until Aug 2007) was a really, really good show, and there are very, very few shows that can compare. These that I've tries so far haven't reached the bar quite yet.
Also working through my set of Due South again.
So, Due South, Dark Angel, Firefly don't seem to have much competition.

Enjoying Due South again thanks to Netflix, Just wish it was streaming instead of having to wait for the DVDs.

I just love how Paul Gross plays the heroic good cop (hah Mountie), yet hopelessly clueless to big city ways and his own good looks and women drooling over him.

In the pilot there's even a scene with suspenders and firearms. (drools)

Also, I saw Dr. Horrible at Best Buy yesterday for $19.99.

Shall I assume you have seen Canadian Bacon? I do enjoy Steven Wright's Mountie.
Is it just me, or do you think the guest casting on Due South is waaaay above average?

This may be worth repeating: Firefly is holding up after far longer than these other shows, making all TV look like pathetic wannabees.
However, on the bright side, I got to the Firefly line in Bones, so me is happified for the instant.
Lately this woman can only wear lace bras without other clothing covering, only underdraping her breastages. I enjoyed Madonna's music, but placing her fashion cues onscreen every episode seems a bit much.

Target has True Blood on sale this week for $24.99 for Season One. That's the cheapest I've seen it by over $7. I'm heading there now...

Also, they have the BluRay of Serenity on sale for $14.99, which is as good a deal as I've seen on our BDM.

Oops I spoke too soon.
Was wandering walmart (they didn't have T:TSCC S2 DVDs yet), saw they have some full seasons of series, combined into twin packs, for $20 per pair of Seasons.
Saw Bones S1 with Saving Grace S1, also other pairs were Dark Angel S1 and Tru Calling S1, and X-Files S1 & S2, and Hill Street Blues S1 & St Elsewhere S1, and Angle S1 & Buffy S1.
That's a better deal than $20 per season.

Yeah, I've seen some of the twin-packs at Target for $20, too. They have Buffy S1&S2 packed together, Angel S1&2, etc. Pretty damned good prices, considering I was paying $25 a season 4 years ago for those - and that was a sale price then!

No luck on True Blood, though. I went to 3 different stores yesterday, and all were sold out. :(

I'll try again later in the week. I got a rain check, so the price is good for a while...
