I thought it was totally "meh."
Okay rental, but I'll likely never watch it again.
Even the FX were sub-par.

It made me appreciate Elektra more, though!

Pretty lame. Script felt more like a pile of studio notes squished into a script, rather than a story that needed to be told. Jackman's still good, and I really liked Schrieber at Victor.... but that's about it. Still (slightly) better than Elektra, though. ;)

Hoping the sequel will be better, with Chris McQuarrie working on the script, and Bryan Singer possibly coming back to produce.

The Christophe Beck music & the red outfit make Elektra win out for me, personally.

Still, both are just FX/fight scene drenched semi-movies.

Don't even remember the music. The red outfit is hot and all.... but hardly enough to make me look past every other single element of the film sucking.

I have an admittedly adolescent agenda concerning movies that suck.

Comletely agree. Was okay for one watch and that was about it. A mate wanted me to watch this at the cinema when it first appeared. I'm so glad I didn't and trusted my instincts.
I wonder what this holds for other origin stories though? Surely Wolverine is the only character to really hold any interest for someone who doesn't know the comics (myself being one of them). I personally couldn't find myself interested in any other character to see a whole movie about them.

They're still planning to do the Magneto origin movie, which I think could be interesting. Then they're supposedly going to start shooting X-Men: First class in the spring, which will feature Cyclops, Jean, Beast and Xavier forming the team. They're still developing a Deadpool solo flick, though that may be dead with Reynolds playing Green Lantern.

How is Wolverine compared to the disappointment of only one Hugh Jackman shirtless scene in Australia?

I hated it. Can't believe I paid $10 to see that crap in the theater.
I hope Iron Man 2 doesn't disappoint.

It sucked because Frank Miller didn't write it...

I mean... come on! The guy created the character in the first place.

Of course I have to stick up for Frank... Only met him a couple of times. He's my friend Richard Miller's (who is older than me) slightly weird older brother (I grew up just down the road a little bit from the Millers)

I liked the scene at the end of the credits, but otherwise, I agree with your assessment of "meh."

it was pretty bad to put it mildly. X-men 3 looks like the god damn Dark Knight compared to this shit..

There're two guys on youtube

that did better effects.
So much potential, so little delivered.
The leaked copy two weeks before release followed by a halt in production while the leak was hunted down and killed (legally if not literally) no doubt put a big dent in the quality of the finished product.
On something this huge they should have pushed the release date & made it perfect.
Seriously. Watch Serenity again. All of the backgrounds in the fight scene with the Operative & Mal in the generator room are FX. I /know/ that room doesn't exist, but there was never a flaw that took me out of the moment and made me know it during the scene. That's how it should be done.
Pick a scene from Wolverine, and if there are FX, you'll see 'em, and they'll pull you out of the moment, thus ruining the scene. Unacceptable.
Rent it, don't buy it.

I saw the leaked version, that was enough for me. Even Hugh couldn't save that film, and the main enemy (Stark I believe) was badly cast.

America loves a winner!

I have some minor issues w/ the back story part of the movie, and how it relates to the latter time line. The ending was what really soured it for me. I actually liked much of the movie, though. 'The Island' was disappointing, on so many levels.

The T.Rex they call JANE!

I really wanted to gouge my eyes out at this point of the movie.

Whats dissapointing is that Hugh seemed to take a real interest in the character and this is the story they give him.

Bunch of poses and still shots.

They didn't halt anything, much less production, which was long over. FX is post-production, which they still didn't halt, they just sent out lawyers and interns to scour for the leaked copies. The FX work did looked rushed, but it had nothing to do with the leaked version. The rushed FX work was likely down to having re-conceived the ending a couple months prior, and having to do most of it on greenscreen.

Yeah, some very odd choices that just don't add up. Though no dates are given, the weapon X and adamantium stuff would have happened around the late 70's, and the incident at 3 mile island was '79. Yet he's fighting Humvees that won't be built for a couple decades, and rescuing a teenage Cyclops.... who we then see in X-Men 1 being in his early twenties, even though it would have to be at least 20 years later.

Yeah, it was very meh.

Go here have a fight with this character, go there have a fight with that character, go there have a fight with this character and then go to the boss and have a fight with him. And also, wouldn´t Wolverine smell or sense that his woman isn´t dead?
