When it came out on DVD in 2008, it was over 120 bucks a volume, and I just flat out refused to cough up that kind of coin. But I find that NOW you can get each of the three volumes for just under $40!
I ordered volume three for me & Sonisall- I think it'll be quite fun for us.

Anyone else have fond memories of this gem from the early nineties?

As much as I really, really wanted to love it, I never saw an episode that I particularly liked.

I thought you might bring this series up after your other thread.

My brother shelled out for all three volumes (at a much cheaper UK price) and I started watching the first one a good while ago but didn't get very far because I had too many other shows to watch. One day I will go back and carry on. I never really watched it when it originally aired either but caught bits and it looked alright from what I can remember.
Sean Patrick Flannery was in the third volume right?
Coz I know it was a young kid in the first and I can't remember about the second.

It was the little kid in the first five eps (the first volume has seven) and Sean all after that. The third volume is at the end of the war years, that's why I ordered that one in particular- more variety in the adventures.
It was a very okay series, but I was really turned off by "Old Indy" opening & closing the shows- thankfully, that junk has been edited out for the DVDs.

Weird to think that Flannery is now several years older than Ford was in Raiders.

I was always surprised that he never made it bigger than he did. He can be a good actor and was genuinely excellent (and almost unrecognisable) in Powder.
Guess he was just one of the many also-rans that never quite make it. Sometimes I think they are better off.

Easier to keep your head when peeps respect your work without idolizing you, I think.

Are these the volumes on DVD? If I recall correctly, I heard that they butchered the episodes, removing the framing sequences, changing the episode order, and even cutting episodes together in chronological order (but not dramatic order).

If that's true, I'd rather not bother. Sure, the "Old Indiana Jones" framing sequences were often lame, but that was the whole context of the show. Why change it?

To get peeps like ME who prefer a straight movie-like presentation to shell out coin for it, clearly.

Sure, you say that now. But if I'm remembering the reviews from Amazon and netflix, you may not be happy when many of the episodes are borderline incoherent because they've been sloppily re-edited.

Post a review once you've had a look. I'm curious how bad the eps are (or how good, to be optimistic!).

Yeah, I read they filmed some new stuff (New back then, anyways) to bridge the gaps 'twixt hourly episodes & to fill in the "Old Indy" narration gaps. The stuff with the little kid that had the temerity to keep GROWING UP in the meantime is very noticeable, so I read.
But the newer 18-21 year-old Indy stuff is said to work well, as Sean was only a few years older & looked much the same.

Yes , I remember it very well...Saw some of it being filmed.

I particularly enjoyed one occasion when I was downtown , and some of the storefronts were being used as backdrop for a Sean Patrick Flanery sequence. Flanery is an underrated actor who should be in more sci-fi.

I looked forward to watching it every week , and even remember buying some series-tie-in novels.

Didn't like the 'Old Indy' bookend sequences , at all.

It will be fun to hear your reports once you get your discs.

Moves a lot slower than I remembered, and the full-frame bothers me, but not too shabby. Ironically, Sonisall doesn't appear to be that into it 2nd chapter in- LOTS of dialogue....
