More work done on the Vipers I hope to sell: detailed the side pipes & vents in prep for an all-new paint job & weathering...

If I can't make peeps go "OMG!!", then I will have failed.;)

And, I'll be more cashy poor!

The 6" Firefox, 6" Viper, and 12" Serenity from scratch are on my to-gorram-make list.

How do you get such detail is such small areas? Magnifying glass? You must have tons of patience, and a very steady hand. As always, your diligence shows in your work.

Top notch work. They're looking very very nice indeedy. Your brain must get completely fried sometimes.

Great job, Chrisisall!

I don't have the patience for that kind of detail work.

I admire the dedication to your "craft"!

Disregard those last two pictures, I just printed up the Battlebuck pix to have in front of me, and my Viper still has too many inaccuracies...

I'm taking it back to formula.

I think Vipers are my calling in life, seems it just take me the rest of it to make a perfect one.

Nice work. I had the Revell model way back in the 70's or early 80's. And the little Testor's paint bottles really brought it back for me.

LOL! Thanks, man. But they don't look like that anymore. Too simplistic & primitive. I tore them down & started again. A new level of detail will ensue.

If this wasn't my favourite fighter craft of all time, I dunno if I could go like this on it without cashy money up front....!

That's awesome! I looked at the Slave-1 & Jabba ship ones too, just fantastic!!!

I'm nearly done (like 99%). Got two like this one here, plus one with black windows (the '97 Revell kit I used as a prototype for all my finished work):

BTW, those are all new pipes on the sides; the ones as they come on the Revell kit look like toy crap, I decided.
Two months & countless hrs...

Better pix coming when 100% done & we get a sunny day here in Mass (models can be *made* to look good in controlled lighting, but natural sunlight manifests the truth of it, I find.

OMG, I feel like watchin' Serenity to get away from BSG for a spell...

My girlfriend and I recently started putting models together. We were looking for something to do together on the cheap, and she likes crafty type stuff and we bought three models, a Bel Air, the Wright Flyer and a B-20something (28? 29?). They were all on sale.

Can't compare to your work, but this hobby is a lot more fun than I remember it being when I tried to build some in middle school, lol. Your Vipers are pretty awesome! The Viper may be the 2nd favorite fighter type (could tie for 1st if the Y-Wing counts as a Bomber instead of a Fighter).

I'm thinking of getting into models. I have some ideas for boat designs, but I don't want to build a boat until I'm sure I have it right, so I thought I'd build toy boats. I need some good construction materials that are easy to work with that won't dissolve in water. Also, of course, a remote control.

That's what a ship is, you know - it's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs.

You missed a bit....

Very nice. Now take a break.
What's the rough length of the model? I'd guess about 300-400mm but it would give me a better idea of the scale of the finer details to know. Loving the streak marks and little areas of wear and tear.

Hello,

I liked the dirt/char on the first version. It looked like a well-worn, well-used piece of equipment. The second version looks cleaner.

Hey Tony! Yeah, I softened the dirt some from the original, but it really appears dirtier in person than on these pictures. The studio model was a good deal dirtier, but that's BECAUSE dirt doesn't show up on camera as well as in person. So I tried to be true to the on screen Viper for the live viewer.
My customer said he's happy with his.

Hello,

The limits of my own artistry were reached when I painted D&D miniatures.

Behold: The Black Knight! *dunk*

Behold: The Green Ranger! *dunk*

Yeah, like comics. 15 cents vs. $2.50.
I pay an average $40 for a Viper model online now. LIS Robots are still a reasonable $20...
New on-the-shelf models at my shop aren't any cheaper. It's a dwindling art, I fear. Kids like 'virtual' models these days. Pretty soon there won't be room for modely men like us to slip about at all.

I'm working on a 12" Polar Lights kit- lots of fine tuning needed! I basically replaced the lame seats & flight console, & reworked many other things. This thread has a lot of it:

r-10-year-old-116899/index2.html

I got the kit cheep, otherwise I might have saved up for the Moebius 18" one that's WAAAAY more accurate interior-wise.
You a LIS fan too?
