Just a head's up. I have only once seen The Terminator on DVD, in a package deal with T2 and T3. I just ran across it at Best Buy for 7.99 on BluRay. So for those of you who have been looking, there it is. I have never seen it at used DVD stores, and I have looked every place.

I forgot to ask, as long as I posted this thread.

The theme music, what is it derived from? I already have the soundtracks from the films, and Brad Fiedel gets all the credits, there is no attribution to any other work.
In the original Terminator, the music which most closely eggs me to identify the piece which all else is derived from is in the sex scene between Kyle and Sarah. This scene has less of the obliterating accompaniment, and mostly just the base sound. I feel it is early 80's or late 70's pop, but I have not yet detected which song it was.

Anybody already know, or can figure it out?

Thanks for the heads up! I've been slowly upgrading all my favorite movies as budget allows and The Terminator at that price certainly qualifies.

I don't know why you had such a hard time finding it on DVD, there have been a number of different releases over the years.

No idea about the music.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

It has also been released at least twice so far on Blu-Ray, and that's not counting the times it's been bundled with other movies.

I've been looking for it since the package with T2, T3. Didn't buy many DVDs when the prices were $80 or whatever. If they were released, I must have missed every one. It was one of my hard-to-get list, along with Road Warrior which I got a few years ago finally.
Have you seen The Hot Spot on Blu-ray, or has it never been released?

Anybody else have info on the music?

The first Terminator release was back in 1996 which was just a port of the Laser Disc.
Then it got a Special Edition treatment in 2001 which included remastered video and audio.
The audio 5.1 remaster was controversial since it added stuff that was not in the original Mono audio track.
(I much prefer the original track, the remaster sounds like crap to me.)
It also included featurettes and deleted scenes. Huh, I'll have to dig mine up to see if they talk about the music.
The other releases have been a variation of the SE, some with the special features and some barebones.
So, I guess you did miss every one.

I didn't find a stand alone Bluray of The Hot Spot, but there is one that is bundled with Killing Me Softly.

eta: there's a video on youtube titled "Creating The Terminator - Visual Effects and Music" where the composer is interviewed.
The music portion of the vid starts around the 8min mark. It is from the DVD/Bluray so you might have seen it already. He really doesn't talk about what you're looking for.

Sorry I didn't just post the vid, I've had bad luck trying to post vids from my phone here.

That stuff is on the copy I got. I had hoped he would spill the beans, but alas.
