I'm on record of not having seen a full episode of either Voyager or Enterprise bar the pilot, but the quotes coming from Manny Coto about season 4 Enterprise sound vaguely promising - probably means they will cancel the series though:

"What I really wanted to do this season is make the episodes that I as a Star Trek fan would have to see....You know, as a fan of the original series, if I heard that they were doing the Orion slavers and the Eugenics Wars, I would have to be in front of that TV."

Finally they had the common sense to realise that if they were to give the show a chance, they needed someone that understood what made it work - not Braga's "too cool for school" time travel malarkey or Berman's cash cow antics. A genuine geek - with the important proviso that according to reports, Coto is a geek with talent. Haven't seen Odessy 5 (7?) so can't comment first hand, but have heard good stuff.

as somebody once put it: "Hate the makers, not the series."

I think when they let the second string guys write/produce the later half of season 3 it got BETTER. More of a DS9 flavor than the dumb crap. If they're letting some people who think the orriginal series was cool take over, then I say go for it.

Not sure where they are at with Enterprise over here. I think season 2 may have been shown on terrestrial TV, but I'm not sure - I may try and dip into season 3, but it sounds to me that the Manny Coto episodes are being praised so far ahead of the rest that those may be the ones to go for.

If, as you say, its got more of a DS9 feel then I am there - I missed much of the later DS9 because it didn't air where I could watch it, rather than a dislike of the series - though I still think Duet was its high point (an episode that can be measured against the best SF produced IMO), they had the guts to do stuff like Beyond the Stars - very non-Trek like.
