Actually from what i read, the second alternate ending, Marcus leading as Connor, WAS the ending, but sadly it was leaked. My bitch ass teacher watched both versions too. Um, the BLU-RAY dvd thingy, has those two, and the final ending.

I have a suspicion the it was never intended as the true ending, just to drum up interest... the ending as is is just fine, and IMO it serves well as an ancillary tale in the saga.
