hi, newbie here. love the show wonderfalls, too. Jaye is so great, anybody know what other shows Caroline Dhavernas has been on? BTW, i'm living and working in S'pore where they showed Firefly at 1am on Sat Night and Wonderfalls on sunday mornings at 10am, bur not in the same year of course. so you guys are luckier than most of us in S'pore.

also, speaking of shows prematurely ended like American Gothic, which i only caught last year on tv, can anyone else remember an x-files-type series with a male detective who kinda has flashbacks of serial killers and i think he's separated from his wife and kid. and he also has a female partner and a sometimes guy sidekick, who may be retarded or just a bit slow sometimes. i dunno if that's enough for anybody to identify it.

Anyway it sucks to be so far from Serenity showings, im so jealous that some ppl have seen it as early as MAy and i'm not sure when its gonna be shown here. sorry for the small rant, pls resume yr regularly scheduled communications.

Thanks

Hin

Well I give you a royal welcome

*bows*
It seems there's been a few newbies popping up here of late - I guess that means good work is being done in spreading the signal

I can't believe Wonderfalls is shown so early in the morning - it might not be gory or anything, but its not a kids show either. Then again, X files and Buffy and others are shown on cable channels over here, but I believe they're edited

I haven't seen Caroline Dhavernas in anything else but you can see her filmography and find out some info about her here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0223518/

As for the show you mentioned... well it sounded like Millennium... until you mentioned the guy sidekick who's a bit slow. I dunno. Millennium was about a profiler who helps the FBI and police on a number of cases thanks to his unique ability to get into the mind of killers (as far as making it seem like he was psychic)
He had a wife and young girl, though he split from his wife in the second season. One of his friends was played by Terry O Quinn (of Lost) and in the third season he had a female partner

Needy. Male Companion a.k.a. First Boy Whore of Destiny

Thanks for the welcome and the response. Its definitely not millennium. i think its a newish show in the last five years. very youngish lead actor, handsomer than david duchovny in the first season of X-files. Anyway i'll keep thingking about it.

Many years ago there was an episode of a SF/Horror/fantasy show where Aliens have come to Earth to revive a TV show that was not picked up for the following season and ended with a cliff hanger. The Aliens have been monitoring our radio/TV transmissions and they think this show is High Art. So, the story revolves around them reassembling the show to make the final episode.

I can't remember which TV series this episode was on. I guessing something like New Outer Limits or New Twilight Zone. Does this episode sound familar to anyone? And do you know which series it was on?

(And, if there are any Aliens out there, I got a list of shows for you...)

Hi, yes, it was something like Outer Limits, the actor was Darren McGavin (the original Night Stalker). I don't remember which show it was but I do remember the episode. The aliens knew how the show should end and even wrote the script for the final episode which basically was a confrontation between good and evil brothers.

Thanks, CapnEric!

Now that you've jogged my memory, it was Darren McGavin. I have an image in my mind of film noir lighting and his long, angular jaw. Funny, but that, and the plot summary are what I remember. Now that I've got the actor's name I'll try imdb.com.

Again, thanks. I knew someone on this board would know the answer.

Thanks Ferrel.

AMNESIAC

OK. There seem to be a few Brits on the board here, and I noticed a little off topic talk about TV shows that affected us as kids, but we can't remember their names....

Does anyone remember a British show about a brother and sister with kind of an old man guide that had people turning into Stonehengesque rocks suddenly. The brother and sister were the proud owners of two white pebbles that if they visualized them at the bottom of a stream the rocks would turn blue and red respectively. There were also these cheep mud covered shambling aliens. Somehow they were going to use the pebbles to save the world. Kind of a Druidic lore meets alien invasion thing? Ugh. I must be crazy.

So some of the imagery really had an effect on me as a child. But I have no idea what this show was called, or even if it really was a show, or mommy stuck some drugs in my cherrios.

I couldn't find a copy of wonderfalls to at the store. I'm deffinately going to order it from Amazon after all these great reviews.

Just in case anyone is interested... (1 day before the BDM!) the show was Tales from the Darkside, Episode 32 "Distant Signals"

http://www.tv.com/tales-from-the-darkside/distant-signals/episode/5466
6/summary.html

Originally aired: Sunday November 17, 1985 on Syndicated

Writer: Ted Gershuny
Director: Bill Travis
Guest Stars: Joseph Bova (Lew Feldman) , John Bennes (Loomis) , David Marguiles (Gil Hurn) , Lenny Von Dohlen (Mr. Smith) , Darren McGavin (Van Conway) , Shiela King (Amy)

A famous director is surprised when he is approached by a mysterious investor who wants him to finish up a "Fugitive"-like series that he had done twenty years ago that was cancelled before the final episodes were shown. "Mr. Smith" wants the director to put together the old cast and finish it out, for his "foreign viewers". The star, Van Conway, is a drunk but Mr. Smith mysteriously manages to sober him up. They finish up the series, where the viewers find out that the amnesiac lead character was being hunted by his jealous brother. Mr. Smith, satisfied at the symmetry, departs. It's left to Conway to explain what he believes is the truth: Smith is from a planet twenty light-years away. The aliens, which were part of a dual-planet system, became enraptured by the show and so sent their emissary to Earth to finish it so they could see the conclusion.
