I have looked at the first episodes of this series. And I was impressed. But since I live in Norway I have to download the episodes. I have the first 7 episodes in SVCD. And I wonder if any of you know where I can get the rest of the season
in SVCD. I have found some in divx, but the quality is poor.

I saw the Jeremiah season 1 dvd - I didn't even know the show existed. I like the comics which it's based on a lot, so I'm naturally curious. It looks like they've altered it quite a bit, though - where's Kurdy? - and I've seen the writing criticized, so I'm also wary. You guys have an excellent taste in sci-fi shows, so I'm wondering if any of you have seen any of it and how you liked it. Is the writing any good? And if you know the comics, how closely is the show following them?

My husband absolutely loves it!! And Kurdy IS there - my favorite character! Very, very cool guy. We don't have cable, etc. so had to wait for the DVDs to come out to see the show.

Personally - I think it's interesting, but I got tired of the very gratuitous bare-breasted-babe crap and the woe-is-us attitudes. I had to keep leaving the show, because I couldn't take it all at one long viewing like my husband did. He went marathon on it! But for all that, I do recommend Jeremiah. Not nearly as good as Firefly, but still, something different and thought-provoking.

Thanks, MiloraDell! I'll check it out then

Perhaps my husband will also enjoy it more than I will, but oh well... as long as we can't get new Firefly eps I guess we'll have to settle.

It's from J.Micheal Straczynski the creator of Babylon 5, he writes 9 out the 19 episodes. I suppose it comes down to how you feel about his work, but all I can say is outside of Firefly I think it's the best Sci-fi this century. Good stories with a long and building story arch well acted and directed with a good budget, it never looks cheap.

Sasja - you're welcome! I did enjoy quite a few of the episodes, it's just sometimes it was a bit much. Cheerleader jumping around with her top off? What did that have to do with the story again? Hmmmmm.....

I forgot yesterday about your question regarding the comics - I can't answer since I've never read the comics. So I don't know how well the show follows the comics - sorry!

I do agree with Dyairvatree - very thought provoking show, and never looks cheap.

Oh - and one episode had little shih tzu puppies in it - so of course that rocked!!!!!

I happened to catch an episode of Jeremiah for the first time at a friend's house, who had a subscription to Canada's Movie Network... it was a very good show, and despite the fact that I was watching an episode from the middle of the season with no background whatsoever, I found it smart and engaging. I eventually tracked down some episodes on the net via Direct Connect ( http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net), and I liked what I saw enough to go out and buy the first season DVD in January. I've since seen all of the second season, which is excellent, and I'll have no problem spending money on that DVD set when it is released. A highly recommended show, although definitely geared towards adults due to the strong language and occasional boobie (no sunburst nipple clamps to be seen, however)...

My only concern is whether or not there will be a third season. I've heard nothing about renewal or cancellation from the originating network (Showtime). Anyone hear anything about a possible future for the show, or is it going to go the way of all good sci-fi these days?

Officially, a true Season 3 of Jeremiah is possible. In reality, a true Season 3 is extremely unlikely. For some unknown reason, Showtime decided (after sitting on the finished Season 2 eps for 6+ months) to only air the first 7 episodes last fall. The final 8 (which they are expected to call "Season 3") are loosely planned to air in the US this summer. Whether this happens or not is unclear after Showtime made similar statements about Odyssey 5 (those final eps never aired). In any case, J. Michael Stracynski will not return to write/produce Season 3 after a fallout with MGM over creative interference issues (i.e. suits wanting more sex and action over substance). Malcolm Jamal Warner has joined a pilot for a potential new fall series as well, which isn't a good sign either.

It's unlikely the rest of the second season will ever air on Showtime. Showtime has made a decision to do no more Sci-fi. The people in charge really hate it. The only reason a second season was made was because JMS made Showtime sign a contract to back two seasons minium before he signed on to Jeremiah.

Last season Odyssey 5 made higher ratings than the much, much, much more highly promoted Gay show Queer as Folk. Yet they still didn't show all Odyssey 5 episodes made. This is why it drives me nuts when people say Sci-fi only gets cancelled for ratings. It doesn't, it gets cancelled because the types that make network executive like it that way. Why do people need so badly to believe things are based in sane things like money and ratings. They are not, they are based on the perverse whims of deranged executives end of story.

To be fair, there was a really odd production schedule on Jeremiah - I think they had almost all (if not all) of season 1 in the can before they aired an episode. I may be mis-remembering, but in part that may have had something to do with Sept 11th.

Have seen a few episodes, and looking forward to the DVD - in particular the "90210 reunion" episode was fantastic in season 1.

Yeah, I thought Jason Priestly was brilliant in that episode. His performance was pretty gorram freaky - you could just see it in his eyes (at least I could, anyway). I look forward to Season 2 DVD set someday, specially if Showtime doesn't air the last half of season 2, the frelling mynoks.

LOL! "gorram frelling mynoks" I have GOT to a bar tonight and have some fun. Must escape...
