It will be donner's version mostly, what he shot of it added back in. Looks like it will be in a set (don't know if it will be available seperatly or not) with all Chris Reeves' Superman movies.
This summer, co-inciding with Superman Returns.

I'm so there.

Who else?

It seems you and I share similar tastes in sci-fi outside the verse. Part 2 was my favorite in the whole series though I don't want to by an entire set just to get it.

NEEDY

The road to Hel is paved with good intentions

It was only recently I found out about Donner's cut, I assumed he hadn't finished his version off and that the one that was released was the only complete version.

I did see some screencaps of the original ending too along with descriptions of the scenes - the writer says that the best scene in the entire movie (between Clark and Lois at the end) was cut!

I am quite excited to see the cut

Although, the current rumour is that there will be a Complete Collection comprising of 14 discs. Yeah, thats right 14!
Though if this is correct, it is presumed to include Superman Returns (so it would be more like Christmas time) and Supergirl (cos lets fact it, nobody will buy that on its own)

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=60192 is where I originally heard about this, with the comments elaborating more on the news/rumour

If you don't have the first one, it might be worth it...

Its not actually Donner's cut as such - there is an article at Ain't It Cool which clarifies - its his footage, but the person doing the cut isn't Richard Donner (although from the sounds of it he is someone heavily involved with the films and should be doing a good job).

STORYMARK

Just thought I'd add a couple details, and back up some of what Needy said above.

First of all, while the studio is calling this "The Donner Cut", Richard Donner is not actually involved with this version. It is being assembled, with Donner's blessing, by a former collaborator of his. The scenes in the movie will be about 70-75% Donner directed scenes, with the rest of the film made up of scenes from the Richard Lester version of Superman II (as Donner was fired before he finished shooting).

It is coming out as part of the 14-disk Superman meag set, which will be out around Christmas, like the Batman set last year. Though the disk line-up has not been officialy confirmed, the expectation will be that it will include Superman 1-4, Superman II Donner version, Supergirl, and Superman Returns, with a disk of special features for each.

ok, hands up I admit it, I was just going along with the majority who dislike it

Although I probably watched the entire movie when I was younger, when it was on tv last I watched a bit of it before turning it off

Here was me thinking I could get away with such a throwaway comment and nobody would argue with me - so foolish

Now if I had a serious hatred for the movie, I might argue the point, but as it stands, I'm just going by what little I saw and the opinions of others

(Feel free to tell me off)

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

I really don't see the need to connect Superman to the ill fated Donner Party. I mean, who really wants to see Superman cannibalize anyone?

Not I
