Avengers, anyone?
Never a giant fan myself...it was a little advanced for me when it aired here in the states, and later it seemed to run at strange times, so I didn't see as much of it as I maybe should have... but I enjoyed what I did see (infrequently), and what I enjoyed most about The Avengers was Mrs. Peel.

A new "Emma Peel mega-set" is coming out on dvd, are ya gonna get it?

Chrisisall, calling to those across the pond where it started...

I've already got the old version of this set and I love it. The only thing different about this new version is that, in addition to all of the incredible Emma episodes from the old set, it also has an extra disk with a couple (or maybe just one) of previously unaired episodes and another episode where Emma guested on a later version of "The Avengers" - plus some other special features that weren't with the first set. Fortunately, A&E is also selling just the extra dvd as a separate item. So, for people like me who aleady have the old mega-set, you can also just buy the new extra disk alone, without having to purchase the entire new mega-set.

I read that Mrs. Peel was only on two seasons. Which one did you like better, the black and white, or colour?

Chrisisall, toying with the idea of Mrs. Peel on DVD for Christmas....

I loved the quirky characters and settings and droll humor. Mrs Peel and John Steed both were great fun.

Heh, that is a really tough choice. The B and W eps tended to be more serious and the colour ones were more tongue-in-cheek, but they were both really entertaining regardless. Personally, I can't choose between them as a whole. However, my favorite single episode from the show was "The House That Jack Built" (it featured Emma heavily), which was B and W.

I did some digging, and it seems season 4 (b&w) is generally considered the best of the six.

Hmmm.....

America loves a winner!

A bit before my time, but Emma is smokin', regardless. Damn well worthy of an appreciation thread, I must admit.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss
