I read it also has the better, non-theatrical version on it. I'm gonna watch that one FIRST!!!

Okay- it's a re-make of The Omega Man, big budget, well acted, but it ain't the book on almost any level. The theatrical ending is closer to the book; the alternate ending isn't all that.
If I sound a little disappointed, it's 'cause I am. Peeps who did not read the book should like it a lot. Peeps familiar with Manhattan even more so.
Worth a rental.

Okay, I never read the book and still happen to be a bit disappointed. I honestly liked the theatrical ending more than the alternate "contoversial" end. WTF makes it so controversial? That seemed like the Hollywood ending the sheeple prefer these days. I loved the original ending for the raw and realistic nature. It drove home the point much better and ensured that unsettling feeling from the dark parts of the film lingered. Honestly I wish it were longer and more detailed. Yeah, worth a rental but buying the 2 disc special edition ensures you always have a copy to lend.

Gots mad skillz, loves playing with matches.

Nv, you ever see The Omega Man? I'd be interested in hearing if you liked it better...I think I actually did, it had more dialogue & plot (I know that sort of thing is out of style these days for most movies- thank Buddha Joss bucks the trend).

I loved Omega Man. It was more believeable in the fact that the chosen stronghold was more than a house with shutters and a Claymore perimeter. Seems there was a bit more exposition in Omega but the thick plot lines definately made up for it. I do have to say I am impressed with the scene where Sam gets lost in the dark as hell building and there was a lack of Horry-wood lighting and buststing score for psuedo-suspense. The confinement of dark is a difficult thing to express and even on the small screen it was communicated well.

Watching the animated comics right now. The first one is utterly fantastic.

Saw it in theaters. Didn't really care for it. I didn't really get much believability out of it. I mean if you had all the time in the world wouldn't you build one heck of a defense system? That house would have been decked out if I was running things. At the very very least I'd have a bunker where it's just a long underground hallway leading to the door and have like ten huge UV spotlights pointing down the hallway. So, if I really need to survive a night I get down in that thing and stay put until morning.

Other than that it was sorta grim and dark. Which was a good thing. I just think if it were me I wouldn't so much be trying to cure the mutant things that want to eat me. I'd more be killing all of them and making sure I'm safe.

I liked 'em all- better than the movie in fact.

Manhattan looked GREAT...
Still, the Neville in Omega Man had machine guns w/scopes on his building...he was ready to kick ass.
Will only kept his muscles in shape- not his defenses.

Just finished the rest of the animated comics and wow. Powerful. sad and sick and terrible. No one is spared. I noticed an infected in the lost Sam scene last night that was much smaller in stature than the rest. I think there could have been more details added to the film. it still seems a bit on the glossy side. Oh well.

Well, that was how it happene in the book- just the dude going around, stakin' vamps like a masculine Buffy.
Or was it the other way round?

Kept thinking of The Omega Man...as much as I thought OM missed the mark, sadly I Am Legend missed it more IMO.
