I recently purchased Season 5 on DVD and I've been watching it. I just watched "Fool for Love", and that scene in the Boxer Rebellion flashback where Darla, Angel, Drusilla and Spike are walking away from the chaos and flames in slow motion just blew me away. That's by far my favorite scene in the entire show.

So far, anyway ... I haven't yet arrived at Seasons 6 or 7.

How about you? What's your favorite scene?

I don't have a favorite because I love the entire series as a whole, but my most memorable scene is when Buffy tells Spike to state what he's doing in 5 words or less. Spike responds, "Out...for...a...walk,......bitch."

That is a great scene in a great episode. Im not sure I could narrow it down as far as my fav scene. Ive always been a huge fan of the scene in When She Was Bad (S2 E1) where Buffy does the sexy dance with Xander. Cibo Mato is playing, Angel is confused and upset, Willow is hurt, Buffy's a bitch and Xander is..well..stiff. :)

Not the most important scene in the buffyverse but I always really liked the lighting, music, acting and writing in that scene.

Passion contains a good few of my favourite scenes.

And that Boxer Rebellion thing is okay, save for the rather shocking hair on display.

I agree. That was a really awesome shot. I love when Spike jumps onto the barrel thing and then off it. Has to be one of my favorite scenes, if not my favorite. It's probably my favorite episode, too.

Just off the top of my head, I'd say the scene in S3 where Angel is waiting for the sun, and Buffy is crying she's pleading with him so hard. Then it snowed!!!
SMG was great there.

I love the scene in the last season, Spike has just been rescued from The First by Buffy, and they are teaching the potentials in the cemetary.

Spike falls down and Buffy reaches down to help him up. He reaches out to stop her hand and assure her that he is all right.

There was such a connection there, neither needing to let the other know they care for each other in words, just looking at each other. A most meaningful beautiful moment.

And 2nd place belongs to S-5 when Spike breaks down in tears when he sees Buffy dead.

Out - for - a - walk - ...Bitch

This is not necessarily my favorite scene, as there's just no way I could pick ONE favorite in a show like Buffy. But the scene that immediately comes to mind that had me rofl was in Becoming (II) when Spike and Joyce are sitting in the living room sharing uber-awkward quiet time together. Spike's quietly checking out the walls and Joyce is looking around not knowing what to think. Then finally Joyce breaks the silence:

JOYCE: Have we met?

SPIKE: Um... you hit me with an ax one time. Remember? (makes an ax-holding gesture) Uh, 'get the hell away from my daughter.'

JOYCE: Oh. So, do you, uh, live here in town?

That scene seriously has me laughing uncontrollably every time. I <3 Spike.

I havn't seen the entire series yet, but my fave sene so far is in season 3, when Spike, after a raging bender, falls asleep in the courtyard of the old mansion where Angel is holed up. And as the sun rises, and sunlight hits his hand, his hand bursts into flames. And then seeing him stumble around trying to put it out was funny as Hell.

And him bemoaning his loss of love with Joyce, and her joining in on the convo was even better.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

And wow! Hey! What's this thing suddenly coming towards me very fast? Very very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like ... ow ... ound ... round ... ground! That's it! That's a good name - ground! I wonder if it will be friends with me?

"Fool for Love" may be my favorite single episode but I don't know if I can single out one favorite scene.

Same for the show in general--it's hard to choose one.

But two or three that come to mind are the end of Season 2 when Buffy is about to kill Angelus and then Angel gets his soul back. But Buffy has to run him through anyway. That scene is why I'll always be a Bangel. It was like something out of Shakespeare. I really do think it hits that level. Buffy and Angel's romance is up there with Romeo and Juliet and Tristan and Isolde and Heathcliff and Kathy and other great romance you can think of.

The end of Season 5--I won't spoil it in case someone hasn't seen it but it had me leaping off my sofa.

On a happier note--Willow impersonating Vampire Willow in "Doppelgangland". Aly is terrific in that scene.

And anything from "Fool for Love".

Ooh, and Buffy telling Quentin Travers and the Watcher's Council where to get off in that scene from that episode from Season 5, the title of which escapes me.

Old thread, but I wanted to add my two cents:

I've only seen up to the end of S4, and it's very hard to choose. However, the one that always comes to mind is when Buffy blows away the Judge in S2. "That was then, this is now." Just a great scene.

The scene from Angel when Cordelia has a party at her apartment. Some girl Angel was talking too asked if he wanted to dance and then you see Angel...dancing and the girl off in the background with a look on her face that said WTF? But it was all in his head. I have never laughed so hard.

THESOMNAMBULIST

Tough call this one!

Ok after much thought I think I'd have to go with the finalé to season three where Buffy and Faith are within each others' dreams, and the dialogue although seemingly non linear and cryptic are actually hints to what will happen in season5!

I love dream sequences, and the lighting and editing effects used in that scene where Buffy is at Faiths apartments and they're just talking is simply beautiful. It is helped of course by the intense dramatic build-up that has occured through the season... But the flash effect of a figure lying on the bed, really gets me, it's so embodies what dreams can be about - I just love watching that scene.

Then there's Xanders assured walking away from Cordelia in 'The Zeppo' when she's trying to put him down..... Masterful!!!!!!!!

The scene in The Prom from season 3, where Buffy get's her class protecter award. I know it's cheesy, but it never fails to make me cry.
Also, gotta love the fight scene from the end of Pangs (S4) with Spike tied to the chair w/ arrows sticking out of him.

Buffy: "I didn't mean to!"
Spike: "Undo it! Undo it!"

I don't know about favourite scene, but my favourite moment --the one that makes me laugh so hard and love this show harder-- is Giles distracting the police officer at the end of Who Are You?:

Giles [yelling and gesturing wildly]: Damn it, man, we have to get inside. Our, um, uh uh families are in there. Our, um, mothers and-and tiny, tiny babies.

Gots to love Giles.

And I rather liked the performance of Death of a Salesman in Restless.

Heh, I thought this thread was about Firefly - for which I'd have to answer - the scene in Our Mrs. Reynolds where Jayne offers to trade Vera for Saffron.

For BtVS, I'd say the briefing Giles gives with the overhead projector in "Hush".

Can't remember which episode this is in but I know it was early in the series. Xander, Buffy, and Willow are all sitting around talking about how none of them will ever have a healthy romantic relationship. At first they all laugh about it but then all at once they seem to realize it may be true. Looking back at the series it isn't hard to argue how prophetic this moment turned out to be.

It's at the end of the S1 episode I Robot, You Jane in which Willow was wooed by an internet demon. And I think you're being gloomy. They do have healthy romantic relationships for a good while (well, Xander and Willow do) ...until they go and fantastically fuck them up. Joss Whedon hates for good things to last. XENOPROBE

Here are a few faves o'mine.

Fool For Love- Ok. Truth be told... the entire ep is fan-feckin-tastic. But Spike's speech as he acts out the killing of Nicki Wood... "death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day..." It is beautifully choreographed and written and James Marsters' performance is stellar (that man can act with one eyeball!)

Something Blue- Another gem. The whole scene when Anya and Xander arrive at Giles' to find him blind and Buffy with Spike. Xander exclaiming "who? what? who?" and Giles' response "three excellent questions." The entire exchange is wonderful.

Beneath You- the end scene with Buffy and Spike's exchange in the church where Spike drapes his lovely self over the crucifix and pleads for rest. Mmmmmmmm....

Touched- Spike's speech to Buffy about her strength and his love of her. Their connectinon by this point, so close to the end, is, in my opinion, so beautiful and well-established that just about any interaction between them is poetical!

The Body- It is almost too difficult to pick one moment from this hour of earth-shatteringly exceptional tv but the scene where Buffy throws up on the floor is fab. There's something so simple and real about her physical reaction, then the shot of her standing at her open back door; children playing in the distance; birds singing... life going on everywhere and there's Buffy with her dead mother in the living room. Such depth and contrast and such beautiful photography!

Two to Go- Giles' arrival at the very end of the ep. Each and every time I watch this one I leap up and shout for joy when Giles walks in!

Grave- Willow's breaking point with Xander on the bluff... need I say more?

Becoming Part One- the fight scene between Angelus and Buffy as he 'keeps her busy' as Dru kills Kendra and abducts Giles back at the library... Angelus is so wickedly cold as he laughs out his line "... and you fall for it every single time!" as Buffy realizes her friends are in mortal danger.

Passion- Angelus watching through the window as Buffy, Willow and Joyce react to the news of Jenny Calendar's death... the music, the narration, the utter grief... so beautiful!

Graduation Day pt 2- the entire battle sequence with particular attention to the moment where Angel and co. arrive ont he scene... The camera sort of slides into focus just as Angel kicks up the fight a notch. I get goosebumps!

Life Serial- all of the Trio's moments are hi-larious in this ep. But my fave is the 007 argument where Andrew says "I think Timothy Dalton should get an Oscar and beat Sean connery over the head with it!" (I love it because, once upon a time, I was a big Timothy Dalton fan!... don't judge!)

Of course there are other moments... Faith's "is what it is, yo." Snyder's "Whoa Summers! You drive like a spaz" Giles as the Fyarol demon. Spike behind Joyce in her kitchen, mocking Angel who can't come in...

So many!

Too many!

I love them all- I could dissect every episode and find something to contribute.

I only saw the second of of S2 and all of S3, only recently seeing S1 on DVD...

Even so, too many to count!

1. Buffy getting her award at the Prom

2. The Judge: "What's that do?"

3. Oz reacting to waking up naked in the woods for the first time: "Huh."
(Much like Mal's reaction to "River in the Box")

4. Giles, after Willow accidentally shoots him with the tranquilizer dart: "Bloody priceless!"

5. Two words: "Actual size."

Too difficult to name just one, but the first one I thought of when asked that was at the end (SPOILERISH if you haven't watched the finale!!!) when Buffy had (unknowingly to viewers) asked Xander to get Dawn out of town and she told him that he was her strength (!), and then later Dawn overpowers him in the car, drives back home, lightly kicks Buffy in the leg and calls her a dumbass.

Sound like an odd choice? Here's why I picked it...two seemingly small interactions which weren't really that at all between both Buffy and Xander, and Dawn and Buffy. With Buffy and Xander, it was the first time I remember her telling him in words what he truly meant to her in seven years of friendship. The Dawn and Buffy scene was great because the way they interacted was a cute, silly reminder that they truly are sisters and really do love each other.

It's hard to pick a favourite but there is one particular moment of which i always think...

There is a scene in 'Hush' where Giles was using flashcards and dramatic music to tell the scooby gang what the gentleman were and why they were in Sunnydale. It's absolutely hilarious. I love how at first Giles puts the flashcard around the wrong way and how his childish drawings are so bloody and graphic. Buffy's motion with the stake and the look everyone gives her is also funny.

Really difficult to choose just one, but my all time favourite comes from 'The Zeppo'. The scene with Xander and Jack standing in front of the bomb.

Jack: I ain't afraid to die, I'm already dead!
Xander: Yeah, but this isn't running around with your buddies dead, this is little bits getting swept up by the janitor dead and I don't think you're ready for that.

Jack looks at the bomb, starts to panic

Jack: You'll die too!

Xander glances at the bomb, then looks at Jack and smiles peacefully

Xander: I like the quiet.

Oh there are so many it's impossible to chose...

I forget the name of the episode but it's I think the 2nd of S3 with the mask that raises the dead. The bit where Giles is in his car and he says to himself "Don't you like my mask, isn't it pretty? It raises the dead!"

Almost anything with Buffy and Angel makes my cry.

When Riley comes back and he and Buffy are in the car:
Riley - "I hear you. I got some, uh, big stories to tell you, too. If we ever get half a second"
Buffy - "Did you die?"
Riley - "No"
Buffy - "I'm gonna win"

Everything from 'Once More With Feeling'

While there are so, so many to choose from, this is one of my favorte Oz moments:

Willow: “I’m Joan of Arc. I figured we had a lot in common, seeing as how - I was almost burned at the stake, and plus she had - that close relationship with God.”

Xander to Oz: “And you are?”

Pulls his jacket open to reveal a nametag with ‘God’ on it.
