this has been getting pretty poor reviews and although I really liked the look of it from the adverts that often doesn't mean anything so I wasn't expecting too much...

WOW, it was fantastic. it was visually beautiful, and ok there were some slighty dodgy effects that I prolly could have whipped up on photoshop- it was like they spent all the money getting some bits to look amazing and then didn't have enough for others, but that didn't matter cos the story was brilliant and the characters were lovely.

ooh and there was one real wash moment where the whole cinema gasped and I spent the next 5 minutes thinking, noo, they did not just do that. go and see it and you'll know what I mean...

for anyone suffering post serenity withdrawal this'll be a perfect way to take your mind off the black pit of emptiness.

but it is quite scary, I can't believe it got a 12a rating, I mean I'm not a good judge of these things cos I thought that Saw was great fun, while everyone else says its the most terrifying thing ever, but the brothers grimm is really quite creepy...

Sorry, but I so totally disagree. I love Terry Gilliam's twisted style, and I am a huge fairy tale fan, but this movie really didn't do anything for me. The characters had no dimension - and even worse - no likability. The story was also jarringly paced and unsurprising.

Loved Time Bandits.
Loved 12 Monkeys.
Loved The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.
Loved Gilliam's Monty Python work.

Couldn't stand Brothers Grimm.
