Where is Simon??

After watching the BDM I was watching the scene where River was trigger and beat the crap out of everyone. Now maybe it's just me, but wasn't Simon gone for quite a while, leaving River alone at that. That seems very uncharacteristic of him to leave River alone. If I remember right you really dont see River enter the bar either. The first glimpse I remember seeing her was staring at that sign. Sorry if this question has already been posted or maybe I'm just thinking too much into it. Just seems a bit fishy to me, and wondered if anyone had any ideas.

They were supposed to be finding alternate transportation. i just assumed that was where Simon was, at some ship making arrangements. He looked up and River was gone. He began looking for her and found her mid rampage in the bar.

And we do see River enter. While Mal & Jayne are meeting with the Wonder Twins, we get brief glimpses of River coming down the stairs and wandering through the crowd.

She probably sensed Mal & Jayne there and that's what drew her to the place.

Later, Simon saw people running out of the bar, probably screaming about the "crazy girl," and did the math.
