"It's the first show targeted at cats. Not cat lovers. Cats.

The half-hour program was developed after research showed that one-third of cats enjoy watching television.

The feline-friendly show will air on the Oxygen Network several times in June...which features cat yoga, cat haiku and sporadic video of squirrels and fish."

Men’s TV is so far behind in terms of stupidity, so for equal rights maybe it is time for Spike TV so everyone can look down on everyone else in terms of gender specific programming.

True story. I used to have this crazy half-siamese half-Japanese Bobtail cat named Zeke.

Now this cat was pure nuts. Probably my all-time favorite cat.

One day, some buddy of mine was talking to me on the phone, and for some reason only known to, well, us at the time... we started yelling "Laaaaaaaaaassssssssie!"

Y'know, like the old TV show.

In comes skittering Zeke. Plops down in front of me, sitting on his hindquarters like a dog, and starts wagging that stump of a tail.

So then that attempt to revive Lassie comes on the Not-Named Network, and I turn it on during an afternoon of extreme boredom.

Cat comes in and watches it. I kid you freakin' not. Sits there, wagging his tailstump.

Repeated this experiment multiple times, before that clunker got the axe from the Not-Named Network.

Same damn thing.

Still spooks me to think about it.

Cat used to dig like a dog, too. Chuck dirt 'twixt his hind legs.

He probably would have sneered at this cat-oriented programming, though. He was pretty much a television snob otherwise.

I would have liked to have met Zeke. Helluva cat, he sounds like.

One of ours, Ford, who is deaf as a post and dumb like rocks, loves the Simpsons. He can't hear them, obviously, but if he catches them on tv, he'll lie down right in front and watch, mesmerized. Commercials distract him, but you can tell he really likes The Simpsons.

Yeah, I can barely remember what he looks like. Been back when I was a young teenager when he was living with us.

He pulled off one other real stunner. He was one of those housecats that had never discovered the whole "Catch Mouse" equation included an "Eat mouse" portion. So we occasionally had to take one away from him and toss it outside.

So he got the idea that we liked mice.

At Christmas, on three succeeding nights he left one mouse under the tree, one for each of us.

If ever there was a cat to make people superstitious, he was.

I attest to all these wild stories with the full honor of the Boy Scout I once was.

Mind you, I was a lousy scout. Never got promoted,
and a lot of our camp recreation consisted of smoking, reading magazines with nekkid women, and smuggling booze across the border.

But they're true stories, all the same.
