You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

..."Lying, cowardly sack of monkey diarrhea" in Chinese? I want some good insults to use in my slowly blossoming fanfic hobby, and I just like this one for some reason.

Heya... this might help...

http://gb.waiyu.org/ <-- this site will translate any string of English words into Chinese. It's the Firefly fanfic writer's BIBLE, TORAN and Whater-the-hell-else-holy.

"He's hurting a woman, he really *is* a bad guy... and I wouldn't call him a gentleman."

ZIMCRUSHER

Go here to learn how to swear in Chinese.

http://www.baianed.com

I'm sorry I don't have "Lying, cowardly sack of monkey diarrhea" in the software, but.......
Lying is: Sa huang
Coward (depending on how bad you want to insult them could be: nuo fu
Monkey is: Ho and xing xing is big ape.
and shit is: shi
I have been recording My Chinese Friends' voices, and writing my own software to help me study. I am now providing these programs on-line to help others.
I'm also a Big fan of Serenity. I even got to work on the film. I animated some of the ships for Rhythm & Hues Studios. Kick ass film.
anyway.... It's one of he reasons I decided to learn how to insult people in Chinese. I knew some insults from Studying in China, but my friends really
got into giving me a deeper understanding. :P
Go here to find them.

I speak chinese... I'd have to say there is something wrong in your translation.

Although your translations are literally correct. I don't think is really conveys the right meaning.

What should be said;

Ni gou shi de huang yan.

'Your lies are like dog shit'
in mandrin

Guo shi jian se de huang yan

'pile of dog shit, bastard or a liar'
Also in mandrin

But the most colorful chinese swears (IMO) are in Cantonese

puo kai, sai zai guo fai zai

'you 'unlucky', dead (dying), Fat MF'

In my experience more people use dog shit (gou shi) as a describing someone as a piece of shit. That way you are denouncing them as both a dog (you work hard and then get kicked around where as other animals either get rewarded or run away - probably because of a dog loyality) and as shit.

It's easy to get literal translations or everything but chinese grammar doesn't really let you make everything into an insult.

totally agree with you. I speak chinese, both cantonese and mandrain. When I first watched firefly and they said guo shi, I translated it to "shit" in my head.

Cantonese is the most colorful language to swear. It is loud, hard, and you sort of can tell your swearing.

Some Cantonese Swear Words (if your interested)
Diu is f***
puk gai is like fall and die (or f***ed up)
diu le lo moe (f*** your mother. Avoid say this cause you can get beaten up in asia)
sai zhi (means dead person)
fai zhi (means fat person)
kai zee (means idiot in the rudest way)
On Geou (means stupid in the rudest way)
bhat po (means bitch)

Chinese grammar is hard like time usually starts the sentence.
ex. I finished my homework yesterday.
becomes:
Yesterday, I finished [my] homework
zuo tian, wuo zho wan gong ke.

Chinese can be a hard language to learn.

"Dear Buddha, please bring me a pony and a plastic rocket..."

Xie xie for the translations.^^ Of course it helps to know how to swear in Mandarin! There ain't nothin cooler than being able to swear in another language!^^

One question though. How do you say 'no' in Chinese?

Xie xie in advance!

'no' in mandarin is 'bu':
'bu yao' is no need
'bu shi' means 'is not'
'bu chuo' mean 'not bad'
'bu dui' means 'not correct'
'bu ke yi' means 'cannot'
