The reason why i mention this film is because I bought it yesterday on 2 DVD special edition for £2.97 (about 8 yankee dollars). I mean that is the price of a pint of beer.

This film came out at the same time as Lost Boys, which is a very cool movie. However Lost boys had the budget and Near Dark didn't. It's a great slant on vampire movies. You dont see fangs, crosses, holy water and the word Vampire is never used.

Last time i seen it was about 8 years ago on video. I watched it last night and thought it was fantastic. You all must know about the slaughter in the hillbilly bar? that is legendery. It is Lost Boys (excuse the pun) with teeth .LOL

It's a film that has cult status and it is well deserved.

Nice comments - I was thinking about buying this one lately too. I remember seeing it a long time ago and being very impressed with how it portrayed vampires.

And it has Lance Henriksen in it too! And Bill Paxton.. and a few others. Great film, I might have to rent it again from Netflix.

Saw an interesting one lately which is on William Shatner's DVD club list, called Ginger Snaps. It is about a girl who gets bitten and turns into a werewolf, but does not follow the usual past movie cliches...

"And I believe there's a power greater than men. A power that heals."

I love the hell out of that movie. Near Dark is freakin awesome, I got it about 3 years ago. Near Dark is one of those few movies that makes you think. Ginger Snaps is good two (as are its sequels, Gingers Snaps 2:Unleashed, and Ginger Snaps Back:The Beginning)

- Judge for yourself its believability, and then try to tell yourself, wherever you may be, it couldn't happen here. - Carl Kolchak

Near Dark is incredible...one of my favorite movies. The Ginger Snaps series is great too, although I've never seen the third one.

Well, personally, I kinda want to slay the dragon.

Let's go to work.

Cool! I loved lost boys! So this should be awsome. I'm a bit of a sucker for vampire movies. Even really really bad ones.
