For those of you who don't know this and would like to watch the most current showing of DR Who and Torchwood they can be download from the newsgroups. Torchwood airs on Saturdays in England so most times you can download it on Sunday in the states from the newsgroups. Right now all the showing are currently posted in the news groups. Same for Dr Who. Not only are the most current shows posted but there are a lot of the older shows from past seasons posted as well

I have been downloading Torchwood off of a torrent site. I am on episode 7 right now. Not bad, typical amount of English cheese to it.

Wasted potenial is what I keep thinking with Torchwood. It's good, but just pretty fustrating in the stupid mistakes and poor moments.

It's worth pointing out that Dr. Who is a kids program, so don't expect it to be super subtle.

Here's how it might of been.... www.stillflying.net/

PURPLEBELLY

The Sarah Jane Adventures pilot for a series to be broadcast later this year is also available from the same sources. This is another childrens' show, but if Torchwood is an example of RTD's work in the sci-fi genre for adults(sic) that's probably not a bad thing. It has cute boys and strong women - is this guy gay? - and passable CGI for UK kids' TV. Yasmin Paige is wonderful, though I've never liked either Elizabeth Sladen or Sarah Jane.

Not that it should matter, Purplebelly, but yes...RTD is gay. Though I do say your logic could apply to Joss and his male cuties and strong women

GIXXER

Torchwood was generally rubbish except for a few bits. Anything quiet, and anything not featuring Owen.

The constant changing of characters to fit whatever this week's plot was supposed to be was massively irritating.

And the rubbishy way they conducted themselves. Last line of defence against aliens? Neurotic childish prats, the lot of them.

Captain Jack was as cool as Dirk F*****g Benedict (you have to be watching trash British TV for that to work) in Doctor Who, but did himself no favours getting mixed up in this nonsense {even though he was the least worst thing there by a mile}.

As what was with Owen getting laid every five minutes? Mystifying. I mean... Ugh! I wouldn't touch it with yours...

If you can see the Sarah Jane Adventure, give it a chance.

For a CBeebies-produced programme (Children's BBC) - actually, by any standards, it was pretty decent, and head and shoulders above Torchwood.

Surprisingly dark, and with a nice slow build up. SJ actually being in character. Cuts herself off from the World a fair bit, as you'd imagine. Not chatty, and endearingly non-superpowered.

And she did look like Kaylee.

However,

Select to view spoiler:

if you break into her house, it doesn't matter how big and fast an alien you are, you will get Space-Maced.

Yes, Torchwood was disappointing, to say the least (I'll refrain 'cos it makes me too angry). The Sarah Jane Adventures was OK though looks like it will obviously remain a kid's programme. The Doctor Who Christmas special had good characterisation and pacing but a hammy monster and a naff ending.
