I have Hot Fuzz on its way to my house from Netflix. I thought the "why this is recommended" list was interesting. (They recommend movies based on others that you have rated highly.)

Quote:

Shaun of the Dead 5.0 Stars
Children of Men 5.0 Stars
Serenity 5.0 Stars
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 5.0 Stars
A Mighty Wind 5.0 Stars
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit 5.0 Stars
Bubba Ho-Tep 4.0 Stars
Pan's Labyrinth 4.0 Stars

I always know I will like a movie when the average rating of "raters like me" is higher than the general average. In this case it is

Quote:

Average of raters like you: 4.4 stars
Average of 140,293 ratings: 3.8 stars

Hot Fuzz is now one of my favourite comedies.
Saw it on it's Friday opening night here in the UK, then went back on the following Wednesday to see it again.
Haven't laughed so hard since I saw Wallace & Gromit.

You rated Shaun Of The Dead as a 5.0, so you obviously liked that one, and there are some good references to Shaun in Hot Fuzz, but without making it over the top (pub, the DVD case etc).
And the amount of British acting talent that is present is incredible. Topped by a fantastic performance from Timothy Dalton.

Let us know what you think when you've seen it.
