It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God’s timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We’ve all felt the love that you’ve been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson
Brother/Cousin

My husband's been sad over this too...and it's awful for all the fans of his book series since they'll never get an end...

He will live on for as long as people enjoy his works or until the 'Great Wheel of Time' spins him out again to pick up where he left off.

Actually, since he found out about his impending death, he's been making notes and outlines so that someone will be able to finish the series.

(Hopefully the notes don't all consist of "Rocks fall, everybody dies.")

Wow, what a shock. I've complained about his last few books, but I read them all and was really looking forward to the last book of Wheel of Time.

Very sad indeed.

Very sad indeed.

I also have been unimpressed with his last few books, but his writing style was always a bit long-winded, and i may have just been getting tired of it.

That being said, condolences to his family and friends, and I'll still be buying the monster 3000+ page finale to the series the day it hits the shelves.

Wow. This comes as a shock.

I long ago grew past Jordan into the better storys of Niel Gaiman, Frank Herbert, and Joss.....but darn it for the Jordan fans. I know they are out there cause they had their own devoted room at DragonCon downstairs in the Hyatt. I recall reading The Eye of the World when I was an 8th grader. I'm 30 as I write this. Can anyone drag a series longer than that?

There isn't a year that goes by I don't feel a twinge of regret at Frank Herberts death before finishing his final Dune book. I pray that Jordan's family does his notes justice and I'm glad he at least had a chance to put them on paper before passing. For us Dune fans, we didn't get that. Brian Herbert pulled notes from a safety Deposit box that he used to write the final Dune book....but most of us (dune fans) regard his work as pathetic.

I truely hope Jordan was able to get all the specifics down. With the right skeletal framework of the story, a good writting team can go back to the previous books for tonal reference and "fill in the gaps". The story will still end the way it was intended and with some good work, the characters will interact realistically.

I wish them luck. I think I'll re-read the old ones and pick up the 9th (never cared to read it) and take this thing to completion when it's ready. Out of respect for RJ.

Do not fear me. Our's is a peaceful race and we must live in harmony.
