Nathan Fillion's character on Castle just said it! Was anyone else watching?

?

Does Mal say that in the Serenity Pilot or something?

Anyway, it's a common radio response. Means communication came through loud and clear.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Another Whedonverse reference, not Firefly. It was one of Faith's favorite catch phrases on Buffy.

I could have sworn that's what he said, but I wasn't sure that I heard what I thought I heard. Thank you for confirming it for me, cause that was awesome.

Good episode tonight. Whoever writes this has to be a Whedon fan with the boatload of Whedon references in all the episodes.

AND COME ON ABC-RENEW CASTLE ALREADY!

Yeah, when it got to the preview of next week (stating that it was the season finale), I got a little sick feeling in my stomach. Why is this show still on the bubble? I'm going to be very unhappy if Castle gets canceled. The relationship plot tonight had me on pins and needles! And actually, I thought it was one of the better crimes, though it didn't really even deal with a murder. Aren't they all supposed to be murders...? (I'm not complaining that no one died!!)

Castle/Beckett remind me of the fan fiction series in the Blue Sun Room here, "The Slower Path" except Castle's moving even slower than that...

I've already preordered the first season DVD's from Amazon. At least I'll have those to look back on as I lost the DVD'd first 7 episodes when I had to change cable providers during my move.

The Castle/Beckett relationship is moving at just the right pace. Hopefully, it'll last for a couple of seasons before they pull a "Moonlighting" on us.

There's already Castle fan fic over at www.fanfiction.net. Some of it's good.

Yeah, I caught that too. Faith.

Also several lines seemed like something Mal had said before or maybe Castle just said them like Mal.

Either that or Nathan ad libs these little references and the powers that be like them so much they just can't bear to remove them.

The whole scene with Castle making the drop while communicating with Beckett and her ex was hysterical. The cherry on top was the revelation of how big a fan she really is. She almost let the cat out of the bag talking about the new book cover. If he ever finds out the depth of her admiration...

In what context is "Five by Five" used?

Also, has anyone ever watched or heard of the 60's British show 'The Avengers'?
Specifically the Dianna Rigg / Ms Peel era?

That's what Castle should be like - plenty of innuendo, but NO actual contact. X-Files was like that too, wasn't it?

Oh yeah, the tension definitely makes the show. :) I'm complaining, but I not really complaining, ya know? Let's hope the fun doesn't get spoiled too quickly! I think X-Files was like that too, but I never really got into it, so I'm going with the discussions a few of my friends had freshman and sophomore years in college (they were totally addicted to X-Files and ER).

On 5X5... it seems like one of the Terran units in the original StarCraft said 5X5 as one of their movement sound files too (like you tell them where to go and they say [something something] five by five). Wish I could remember the unit... it was the kinda tough-voiced female, and one of her other sound clips was "In transit HQ." I guess I just need to go play the game again.

Not being familiar with StarCraft and never having watched more than half an ep of Buffy, I wish-recognized the line as being from Aliens, as the Sulaco is making its first trip down to the Big Alien Fun planet: "We're in the pipe – five by five!" It took me a rewind or 2 to determine that Nathan didn't say the "We're in the pipe" part. I realize it doesn't constitute a direct Whedon shout-out (though there is the 6-degrees-of-separation angle with Joss having written for one of the later Alien sequels), but I thought it was a nice science-fictiony nod in general (like I say, didn't know about the Buffy connection).

Here's what Wiki has to say about 5 x 5:
