...or the Not As Popular Movies Thread, or the Popular Unpopular Thread, take your pick. :)

Hopefully, this thread will become a place where folks can post movies that aren't as well known, such as many of the Independent films, and recommend them for other folks. Since we all share a love and obsession with Firefly, we have that in common. lol.

Feel free to write about what you like in movies, actors, the gamut, but try and keep your posts "spoiler" free.

Anyway, I love horror movies. Love em. Sitting in the dark, munching my popcorn and getting the living shit scared outta me all the while knowing 'it's just a movie.' My wife, family, hell even my friends don't share this in common with me. Thus, I don't get to watch them as much as I would like.

I rented this one called "Sam's Lake" several weeks ago that kind-of took gimmicks of the genre and turned them upside down. No spoilers here, but if you "get" what horror movies are all about, I recommend watching "Sam's Lake". It's a short and sweet flick.

It wasn't the one I wanted to rent though. I was looking for a film called "End of the Line."

Can anyone here comment on that film? Was it any good? How about any of the other movies from the guy who made it -- Maurice Devereaux?

Also, I can't seem to find a copy of "Donnie Darko" to rent. Is Darko a good film.

Darko is very... odd. Let's just put it that way.

You can probably find a used copy for under $5, and if you like it, you'll want to watch it more than once, to see what you can piece together from it...

Donnie Darko is a great film! A little weird, but worth watching.
There is a sequel coming out soon as well.
Another film by the same guy is "Southlands", that's worth a watch as well.

Donnie Darko is an engaging film to watch. Give it a whirl! I wouldn't personally class it as lesser known... Maybe lesser understood

(If you enjoy Horror and in particular lesser known horror then you're probably more than well catered for.)

Like yourself I too like horror films. John Carpenter is still king for me when it comes to horror. I just love his style. And recently the Descent took me by surprise which was great. However my favourite genre and decade must be 50's sci-fi. I adore it. I can re-watch films from the 50's over and over. There's a sweet naïveté that just charms me .

Speaking of horror, if you ever get the chance, check out the early seventies witch hunt classic "Blood on Satan's Claw". One of the most creepy and atmospheric movies ever. And not the TV version, the un-cut version.
