Likes to mess with stuffs.

Things aren't looking very good for Dollhouse. Down 20% from the already rock bottom premiere last Friday and bringing in only 2.1 million viewers.

I have to admit, I watched Stargate Universe instead, which I'm sure a good number of other viewers did too.

Hopefully the DVR numbers will look better.

I DVR'd it. Haven't watched yet.

I've pretty much resigned myself to the idea of it being cancelled before mid-season, and never having any closure or resolution.

And at the rate it's going, I won't even be disappointed when it happens...

That's exactly how I feel.

And last night's episode? It felt like a chore sitting through it.

I'm thinking some things, when closed, should really remain closed; like Pandora's box... or Dollhouse. There was some measure of closure at the end of Season 1. And in my heart I had already said my goodbyes to it. Seems the actors did the same thing.

Hey guys...remember what I said about Ghost Whisperer in the forum thread involving Dollhouse's ratings for its premiere (don't worry I watched Dollhouse this week too)? Well, I checked GW's rating as well as Dollhouse's. I was right, the trend on GW's ratings has continued. It got a 1.6 18-49/7.6 million total viewer rating. In other words in 1 week alone it dropped .6 in the 18-49 and 980,000 total viewers! I knew the trend would continue but this is at a more accelerated rate than my quick math determined.

Some people who have watched GW recently have said its losing viewers because of "bad writing" and "bad plotpoints". However, based on what I have already revealed we Browncoats know better. Just wanted to chime in with that in case someone who responded to my GW post in the last Dollhouse ratings thread was interested in hearing what I had to say again. Out!

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I hate to say this, but I am fast losing interest in whether or not Dollhouse improves. The word was that FOX was going to let Joss do his thing this year, and yet we are still getting stand-alones with just a bit of an epilogue at the end of each about Echo retaining memories. And now that it seems Madelaine/Mellie/November won't be around any longer I can't make myself care.

Also, one huge error in the ep. How did Echo get out of the Dollhouse after Topher's unsuccessful wipe? Where was Ballard? Where was Langton? How can an active without her handler get out without setting off every alarm in the place?

I have 3 subtle to big problems with this season so far:

1. Too Much Shakey Cam - Is it just me or is there more tectonic instability this season than last? Yes, I know, it's nice if you want to feel like "you're there" or if there's an actiony bit. However, when in the imprint room and a doll has just been wiped, the environment needs to be calm and soothing. Unless really needed, there should only be steady cam when inside the dollhouse.

2. Everything's blue - What's up with "Fringe" and now "Dollhouse" having a blue color grading? Is FUX trying to sell more Viagra? It looks unnatural and conflicts with the "you're there" intention of the shakey cam.

3. (The biggie) WHERE THE HELL'S BOYD?! - In "Vows" Boyd was in a couple of scenes; I know he asked out Clarie (Dr. Saunders). But in the last ep, unless I have amnesia, I didn't see him at all.

My friends and I were talking about the look of the show during the episode, one even said Eliza looked like she was getting old. Apparently they are shooting in HD this year, and I think it's really been harshing the cinematography. To shoot in HD you have to adjust your lighting or else everything shot looks 'off'. You can't get away with as much. I think that's the major problem with 'the look' this year. The harsher lighting in all it's sterile blueness falls on everyone (and everything) in an unflattering way and everything gets picked up on an HD lens.

And I agree, canceling Terminator was a huge mistake. I'm still heartbroken about it not being on the fall lineup. Dollhouse? Really could have accepted the season finale and Epitaph One as closer.

Ash

But then you have shows like Eli Stone that were done in HD and that were just GORGEOUS - and the people looked fantastic in those shows.

Anyway, I'm not sticking around to find out.

I guess I'm saying that y'all can consider this my official notice: I'm out. I'm done with Dollhouse. I just watched this week's episode, and I just can't make myself care anymore where this is going. The show is egregiously bad, and plots aren't moving along, the characters are people I can't even get interested in, and I just can't invest the time in it anymore.

You know what sealed the deal for my wife and I? Midway through, I looked at her and said, "Ya know, this show is really making me question Eliza's acting abilities, and I'm afraid I'm going to end up hating her in Buffy and Angel because of this show." We talked about it a bit more, and decided that it's time for Dollhouse to be off our DVR schedule.

Who knows? Maybe it will pick up. Maybe I'll check back in the middle of Season 4 and find out it's the best thing on TV...

Meanwhile, I'm leaving the Dollhouse. The real world beckons.

Eli Stone was beautifully shot, but like I said, lighting. I do believe Felicia Day said (the Guild films in HD) something to the effect of you can have the prettiest actress in the world, but if you have bad lighting they're not going to look pretty at all in unforgiving HD.

I'm almost ready to follow your lead Kwicko. The only thing that keeps me watching is knowing Summer is going to pop up in a few episodes. However I am not as enthusiastic about the Whedonverse as I used to be. Every other project Joss has done I've loved and gotten excited about, but now with Dollhouse I feel more cautiously optimistic about anything that comes down the pipeline.

I think I'm just going to catch the Summer episodes and omit the rest. Sounds less painful.

Ya know, I was excited about Alexis Denisof being on the show, but that's turned out to be a big dud, too. I was excited about Ray Wise joining the cast, but I'm out of patience now. It's hit the point that no "special guest star" can save it - ONLY good writing could bail this show out, and I've seen precious little of that. Basically, I've seen one, maybe TWO tops, good episodes. That doesn't include "Epitaph One", because I'm not willing to buy the DVD's just to get one decent episode of a show.
