I'm doing a paper, and I want to do a footnote. The computer won't let me simply TYPE a little raised number, I have to enter INSERT and select footnote, then it places the first little number where I want it, and the corresponding little number all the way at the end of my document. I can't drag or copy it to place it where I want/need to.
How the F**K does this S**T work??? "HELP" simply tells me to do what I've already tried!!!

I don't get it. When I step on the brake, my car doesn't give me options- it JUST SLOWS DOWN!!! My OLD typewriter would type WHAT I TYPED!!!! WHAT IS this S**T????

Do I have to PHOTOSHOP the freakin' tiny numbers on the pages? I could do that, but is seems stupidly excessive!!!!!

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Calm down, Chris, let's see what we can do.

I'm not sure what program you're using, but instead of 'insert - footnote' have you tried 'insert - symbol' to see if the available glyphs have the superscript numbers you need? If they do not, try the symbols for a different font. If that's not an option or doesn't work, let us know.

Kinda dumb question here, but... Just which brain damaged software are you using?
Not that I'd be any help anyway-- I use Notepad most of the time, myself, and MS-Works, vintage 1990 , the rest.
And for that matter, can't think of the last time I had to do a footnote.

What word processer are you using?

Tried it in MS Works and got:

-- [!]Cannot copy or move a foot note marker here.

Highlight only the footnote text, not the footnote marker. --

WTF does that mean!? It's only one character big!

If you declare something as a footnote, the program is going to get snippity about it. That's why I suggested using glyphs, instead. A glyph is just a character, a footnote has a programmed-in set of rules.

Perhaps the needed glyphs can be copied from here if you can't find them in the symbols menu: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subscript_and_superscript

Thanks for the responses my peeps!
I actually solved the problem- the second footnote # can't be moved, but everything can be moved to IT on the last page it artificially creates. Then I just have a blank page where my last page was GOING to be.

What a dumass way to do it.

Works??? well there's your problem. never could get that thing to work. move to a real word processor.

i suggest open office.org ( www.openoffice.org )
it's fully compatible with microsoft office, it has the ablity to save things in .pdf format built in, and.... it's completely free.
