I'm not a member of Facebook either (don't care for it). But I've been passing around the link through Skype, Livejournal, here, and I just tossed it to io9. Even if you can't join the group yourself, you can always just get the word out and alert friends as well as sites.

ok, now this one maybe a little harder to do, what with competing networks and legal clearances and all, but... how about a group to get, not Nathan Fillion, but Richard Castle, to host snl and tie it in to the launch of "Naked Heat"( the second Nikki Heat book, hits stores 9-28)

just an idea.

Not me, SNL has been getting awfull reviews lately, smart thing may be to keep the Captain away. If he gets put in one of the really unfunny shows the press will trash him.

The thing though is that SNL operates around their guest host. At the beginning of the week the host comes in and sits in on meetings with the writing staff. Depending on which guest it is and if they're comfortable with outrageous ideas and giving input, the level of their involvement differs.

When the staff gets someone like Betty White or Zach Galifrinakas, people who are game for anything and like to give a lot of input, the show tends to fire on all cylinders. When you get someone like Michael Phelps (who doesn't know how to act and I doubt gets really involved) the show usually sucks.

Granted the cast isn't as strong as it has been in the past (Mother's Day show had some of the ladies return; Amy, Tina, Rachael and Maya and god damn there was some TALENT going on), but a lot of the quality of the episodes have to do with the guest.

Fillion sounds like (from what I've read) a pretty high energy, goofy guy. He'd probably be giving a lot of feedback and be involved in the whole process. It'd also possibly allow the writers to let their geek cred shine, so it has the potential to be a strong episode.

Of course I could be wrong. Improve, particularly live shot, isn't everyone's cup of tea (ie January Jones).

P.S.- Whozit, for some strange reason whenever I see your name I think of Muppets. I think it's because a generic background Muppet is called a Whatnot

Agreed, don't just listen to reviews, the show is worth watching IMO. Not all the skits rock but they never did. People remember the "good ole days" and only think of those sketches that were awesome enough to stick in their minds. Even when the show was occupied with some of the best cast members that went on to be A-listers they had sketches that went horribly wrong.

Whether you like SNL or not, as a Browncoat, having Fillion on there would be awesome and I'm sure they'd do a Firefly sketch.

The group is now over 3,000 members! Keep suggesting to your friends.

Yes, a Firefly skit would be a given. It would HAVE TO BE in the show.

But be warned: Anybody remember Shatner's Star Trek Convention skit? "You - you with the ears - have you ever kissed a girl? You people need to get a life!" Pure gold, but probably hurtful to a few Trekkies.

I 'spect Browncoats would be in for a little light skewering as well.

Perhaps we should be Castlecoats for purposes of SNL-poking.
Oh, really -- why? Haven't our skins grown thick enough to prevent even Reavers from puncturing them? Per Alexis, it's been how many years since he wore that costume?

We can take a light skewering, I believe, and with Nathan it wouldn't be a Shatner-mean jab.

My rule for watching SNL is that it depends entirely on the guest. I can't stay up that late, so I can get it on hulu. If I'm not sure about the guest I'll watch a sample.
Betty White was fabulous. Skipped the sample and dived right in. Rewarding!

Fillion has an improv background and can easily hold his own in that respect. Additionally, Nathan has a history of making less than stellar material work. The big question is one of time availability. If SNL can get him to host when he's not filming Castle, then he can contribute to the show's input. However, if he's working on his show in L.A. at the time, as the lead, he would be hard pressed to be able to get more than a day off prior to his appearance.

That being said, I would gladly watch SNL if he hosts.
