Hey Browncoats,

Most of you know me around here and if we've never converged on the same thread then, well, that'd be just weird seeing as I'm here everyday and have been since '04 (though my handle used to be derangedmilk).

What you might not know is that I am an aspiring author. I got my degree in Creative Writing from Florida State and I spend most of my free time writing, be it contemporary fiction or science fiction. Crossed Genres Magazine (they publish once a month to the web and put out a yearly print anthology) just selected my story "Of Mice and Astronauts" as one of ten finalists in their second annual Flash Fiction Contest. The story is less than 500 words long. Now that the editors have made there choices it is up to a vote which story will be published and awarded with a professional payment of five cents a word (a whopping $25!).

Having been involved in the whole TVVote thread I know the power of the browncoat voting machine. You can only vote once here but I'm sure the browncoats can put me over the top.

Here's the main flashfic page: http://crossedgenres.com/flashfic/
And the reading/voting page is here: http://crossedgenres.com/flashfic/flashfic-finalists/

You have to sign up to vote because...

But it takes all of ten seconds to register. Mine is story number 8 "Of Mice and Astronauts." I really appreciate 'coats!

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I just registered, and was honest about it and read all ten stories before voting. It was close, and Browncoat or not, your's was the best, with story #2 "Bottomless" giving you a good contest.

Thanks man. I liked "Bottomless" but If I took mine out of the running I would have voted for "Pay it Forward."

"Pay It Forward" is in first place right now, and you're second, with "Bottomless" down at #7.

"Bottomless" just jumped up to tie "Pay if Forward" for first (not to surprising seeing as how few votes there are in. Mine is tied for third. C'mon browncoats, I know registering is pain but help a brother out!
