I was unable to find any posts about what I wanted to bring to light. So I thought posting here might be appropriate for the subject.

Happier Times

It’s been eight years since Firefly came into our lives, and though it may have not been perceived at the time, producing Firefly though the FOX network would bring the TV series to its knees and quick demise to our beloved TV program.

Lost Hope

I loved and enjoyed the Serenity movie as much as the Firefly series, though the death of “Wash” and “Book” would not have helped reviving the TV series, even though there is a large piece missing between the series and the movie that could have been filled in, their inevitable end would be a spoiler you would not bear to face.

Acceptance

For eight years fans and writers of Firefly have created new material, games & stories, there is still a very apparent following of people who loved & lived Firefly and will do anything to experience the Firefly verse again.

Reality

It is possible, plausible, perceivable and possibly even predictable that the Firefly series can again shine and continue for many seasons to come. If only Joss Whedon and his crew would approach a different network and new sponsors who support Firefly, there are many Networks and Sponsors worldwide wanting, willing & proud to breathe life back into Firefly and bring entertainment and joy to their viewers.

Death

However if “Joss Whedon” and his crew are unable to pry the rights from FOX, I guess the FOX network owns the rights? Then Firefly will forever be doomed, there are other words for small powerful minorities who suppress the needs or want of others which I won’t express, quoted by our last favorite villain “dose that seem right to you?”, in this case the coldest word for it is art, but it’s more than that. Firefly is a world that many imagine to be a part of; it’s not just a visual experience for those who watch it.

Appreciated

Everyone appreciates what “Joss Whedon” and his crew did to bring Firefly alive. Firefly is the only program where ALL of the characters are my favorite characters. It must be a strange feeling where your fans believe more in Firefly story cast and crew more than the fox network dose.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

A date that has been mentioned here many times, but for which I am not sure there is a solid reason to believe (at least I have never seen anyone link to a news story that confirms it), is that FOX loses the rights to Firefly in 2012.

Up until Patton Oswalt's "Float Out," all the other comics had been set before the movie timeline, leading everyone to suspect Joss was just waiting for a chance to continue the story on film himself. He has said many times that he does want to do more in the 'Verse, but that no one has approached him with offers to finance.

Joss did Dr. Horrible on his own, and just that 43 minutes cost him nearly a quarter million dollars. It would have been more, but many of the cast and crew went without payment until iTunes and DVD sales made it a profitable venture. He cannot afford to do Firefly on his own, and I am sure he has talked to many people about it over the past few years. He did shop it around to other networks after FOX canceled it but no one was buying at that time.

It is easy for us fans to think that it is a simple matter to rekindle Serenity's engines, but the reality of the matter is that we are still a relatively small fandom. Networks and movie studios see one canceled series and one movie that did not make money at the box office. They don't care what we think, they care about the bottom line, and until that changes I am afraid we still have to hold.
