Even charities are using money for evil now.

Let's look at Susan G. Komen for the Cure:

CEO salary
Hala G. Moddelmog $531,924 0.18%

Does that seem right to you? I understand people have to be paid, but this amount makes you wonder if it is about helping, or is it about making money.

Giving out (probably selling) donor names to other mailing lists? Really?

Bullying other charities about trademarked names?

Why are they acting like corporations? Could it be because they are now run by guys who get paid $500K salaries?

FREMDFIRMA

Past a certain stage, CTS, whatever the original point was, getting the money out of you BECOMES the point - that's part of why I don't support the NRA, cause when any org devotes more time to fundraising (complete with huge staff salaries) than they do their original purpose, they don't HAVE a purpose beyond getting the money, it becomes an excuse, and to actually act becomes seen as a hassle, money going out when it should be coming in...
And that mentality poisons the whole damn thing.

Knowin that, and the fact that once you take someones money, you wind up takin their orders, is what has ever kept my own greed in check, besides which if you never touch the money directly, you can almost never be implicated in anything cause any follow-the-money digging will not lead to you.

Another take on that, and thing I can't stand, is those stupid freakin money-begs and donation ad-bars, cause it reminds me of THIS.

It's like the circular argument I tend to get into with some NGO folk I know.
"What do you need?"
"Money"
"For what?"
"To get things, do things.."
"But what do you NEED?"
"Money"
(insert gratuitous profanity)
"WHAT. DO. YOU. *NEED* ?!"

I can *get* most anything, goods, services, equipment, but fucked if imma just hand over dosh without some accounting of exactly, specifically, what is to be done with it, and a method of enforcing that, oh hell no.

Speakin of, RAWA needs digital cameras of 3MP or better resolution, see their site for contact details.

CEO's can't pay for their yachts and vacations with in-kind donations, can they? Of course, they need money.

Sigh. It's so disappointing.

DREAMTROVE

There was a non-dark side to charities? I thought it was a scheme to steal money from the gullible.

If anyone was actually charitable, they would do something, rather than try to collect money from others.

Strangely, doing things generally does not take money. It takes getting your ass to Africa or wherever.

Then, it may turn out that the people are short of food, or water, but seldom money. If money must be involved, then try to collect it in a manner of pure capitalism by making a product and selling it. Then it is your money. You can then take it to Africa and give it to the people who need it yourself, like Bob Geldoff did, and also Bono.

I have an intense distrust of people who claim to be for righteous causes and are asking for money. It seems like a tax on the good willed and gullible.

Great biz plan:

1. con sheeple into giving you free inventory
2. export free inventory to 3rd world nations for resale
3. govt grants paid for by taxslaves
4. free real estate paid for by taxslaves
5. exempt from income tax
6. exempt from property tax
