The quote brackets
[ quote ] and [ /quote ] (without the spaces) do this

For some reason, some people missed this, and not just one or two, and it's making posts difficult to read because I mistake who said what if someone just posts what the first person said, and then responds to it.

Or just, y'know...

... use the "Reply With Quote" button...

It's really not difficult.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Clearly is for some. Multiple links and trying to figure out where the tags end or begin must be very scary.

I do not need the written code of a spiritual belief to act like a decent human being.

America loves a winner!

What annoys me is when folks reply w/ quote, and entire pages get reposted, for no damn reason, what so ever. Take Niki, for example. She'll routinely give 7-8 paragraphs in her typical post. Then some , in an attempt to comment on one or two points in her lengthy post, copy her entire quote, then add their own. Another reply, another fully quoted page gets copied...and so on.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Ironically, Raptor, I agree with you and have the same problem with it. That's why I try to quote only the specific statement to which I am replying. Quoting the whole post is, nonetheless, better than responding to a statement without quoting it at all, for me.

I have a helluvatime with the [ quote] [ /unquote] feature, especially as I quote so many different sources and posts. I usually have to go over my post and correct having either fucked up the commands or having forgotten a ] or a [ ! It can get very frustration when I have to revise it several times, but it's worth it for me to try and avoid confusing people.

I agree with the initial premise of this post, I guess is the simplest answer.

Copy/Paste to notepad offers some wonderful options along that line if one takes the effort, which I usually do since anything important enough to post is worth doin right.

And yet I *STILL* wind up doing a quick post-edit for typos missed in the first try (i'm kinda OCD about that), we're all human, in the end.

I am working on something on the side that may have an editing function. I want an easy way to take the thousand words I've written and condense them down to the hundred words that are new information within them.

Anyway, yes, I use reply with quote, but then edit it down, but usually I just type it out, because usually it's just a snippet I want to reply to.

Niki
It's [ /quote ] not [ /unquote ]
